This morning I awoke at 4:50 to the sounds of squeak, splash, squeak, splash . . . . Agutaynens were already at our well, using our hand pump to fill their containers with water.
These sounds lasted for about an hour and they will resume later this afternoon about 5 pm. This has been a daily routine in our yard for about a month now. Agutaynens arrive early in the morning so they don’t have to wait in line for water.
Most afternoons you can see a line of buckets and Agutaynens waiting their turn to go next. Once their containers are filled, they start the long trek back to their homes with their heavy burden.
Throughout our village are several “open” wells, but most of them have gone dry. We are now entering the fifth month of dry season. This is longer than normal, and it may last for another month or two.
Our well is one of the few that still has water, but it is running very low, too. As long as there is water in our well, we will freely give to our friends and neighbors.
We desire to freely give them the Living Water, too, salvation through Jesus. Some of the Agutaynens who come for water, are already attending evangelistic Bible studies. However, most of them only want the physical water that we offer and not the Living Water.
Please pray for open hearts and a thirst for the Living Water.
