We had a “bumpy ride” in July!!! Lots going on, and lots to pray about!
AUGUST 2015
Hello Friends!
Thanks a million for your part in our lives! We appreciate your friendship and care for us more than you know!
Well, our last month has been up and down for sure!
We did not end up going to Colorado, as we felt kind of uneasy about getting on the road there, and then maybe finding out that Hector’s Green Card interview did not go through. So we decided to wait and find out how the interview went and when to expect his paperwork to be in his hands, before we left.
On the day of the interview, they told him his medical paperwork (the last TB test/culture results) had expired July 3, and he had to go back to the doctor and start over. So he did. The Dr. saw the spot on his lungs again! And so he had to being the process over. They said this time the culture would take 8 weeks instead of 11 weeks, so that is a blessing. Another blessing was that they were able to complete Baby Ben’s paperwork while at his appointment on July 15.
The next weekend, Amy and Hector and boys went up to the US Consulate City in Northern Mexico, and took a “mini vacation” at the motel near the doctor’s office and the Consulate, so Hector could go and spit up phlegm every day for 3 days for them to culture. This time, they say it can be done in 8 weeks instead of 11. (That makes September 16 the earliest the consulate will get his paperwork, and then the interview must be set up after that date.
So… Amy and Hector went on back to Chihuahua. They had a flat tire (with a bad spare), on the way-that made it a long, slow trip! They are still house-sitting for another week. Then they will move back to the guest house to continue in that ministry.
So, no, we didn’t go to Colorado. Felt like it might not be the best time for a trip like that. Perhaps, we can go with Amy and Hector whenever they get to the US, maybe on the trip back after we pick them up after the next interview? Not sure. Amy is still not sure if she should plan to go to David’s wedding either. She will probably fly with Little ben, and leave Judah home with Daddy in Mexico.
On the Nicaraguan front, Debby is still on BED REST for another week still. She also is unsure of their travel plans regarding David’s wedding. With her carrying twins, she will not be able to travel after December 24, so we may have to rearrange Christmas in our lives this year. (Maybe at Thanksgiving!?)
Beka and Cody have been travelling since June 29. They have another week or so before they arrive in Missouri at the Training Center, and then they will be able to settle down for a little while. We praise the Lord for the safety He has given.
David DID get the ministry position at Calvary Baptist in Baker City. YAY! They are excited to move West, to Oregon! They will move to Missouri early in August to do wedding preparations, and then spend September (after the wedding in Michigan -at the Lake).
Tim and Charity are doing well, and enjoying their jobs, and their puppy. Tim recently found out he had some cracked teeth, and will need to get those fixed!
At the NTM offices, George and Linda keep busy with a myriad of paperwork. Writing many letters of verification for our missionaries: Some for visa processes, some for getting home school curriculum, and some for excusal from Jury Duty, just to name a few. One of our fields requires that missionaries returning from Home Assignment submit paperwork which has been certified by the Florida secretary of State and legalized by the Embassy in Washington D.C. This process can take 2-3 months, and we try to handle all that we can to enable our missionaries to be freed up to do the work they have been called to do, and return to their field of service in a timely manner. We serve the Lord by serving them.
One of Linda’s recent projects has been to contact and update the emergency contact information for all of the staff at the US Home Offices and the Missionary Training Center in Missouri. This will probably need to be done for all of our fields as well. George regularly answers the phone and fields a wide variety of questions about our Mission, and missionaries and many other subjects.
George was able to fill the pulpit at our church last week, while our pastor was on vacation. He taught an overview of the book of Ephesians. It was good! Very encouraging and informative. (He said it was an “info-mercial” for the next book we are covering in Sunday School-after Acts, comes Ephesians!)
Linda’s Uncle Jerry is still in ICU in Critical condition after his motorcycle accident on July 3. He is very broken in many places. They are talking of moving him to a critical care rehab type place and out of ICU. We are praying for God’s will in all of these decisions my aunt if having to make.
Lots going on? Yes! But God is in control of the drama of our lives, still!
Thanks so much for your interest, and for your prayers for us in these things. We appreciate you!
