Four Wheels

Posted by:

Since our last update, we have gotten into a routine quite a bit more. We are doing language sessions 2-3 times a week, and hope to get up to 4 times pretty soon. But this is the first time we have done language study with a baby in the house. And he doesn’t help. Between Davis, house chores, homeschooling and other stuff, it is actually pretty difficult to find time to study on the computer. An important part of our ...

Almost Back To Normal

Posted by:

First off, we don’t have internet yet (hopefully soon); we just have our cell phones, so our updates have been a little infrequent lately. But we are alive. We found a house to rent and moved in about three weeks ago. We have all our stuff, but we don’t really have any furniture yet, so the house feels pretty empty. We have all the appliances we need (fridge, AC’s, washing machine), though, and things are starting to feel a little ...

A New Home

Posted by:

We made it to our new city on Saturday. It was a relief to be done flying and waiting in airports. We are staying in a house rented by another missionary who is on furlough. The day we got here, the power was out all day, and it was pretty hot outside. It was also pretty hot inside. But we have survived the first few days.

The first thing we need to do is find a house to live in. We ...

Moving Again

Posted by:

Well, this year has gone a lot different than I would have thought last September. Coming back to the States, losing Alisha’s dad, Davis being born seven weeks early… God has His own way of doing things. But now, we are ready to return to the field (as ready as we can be nine days before we leave).

We bought our tickets the last weekend in August, then got our visas in the mail last Monday. Now we are busy trying ...

Two Weeks

Posted by:

It’s been a little over two weeks since Davis was born and he is doing well. He is up to about 5 lb. 5 oz., so he’s gained about 9 ounces. He is in an open crib and can keep himself warm now.

The main thing they are waiting on before sending us home is for him to be eating all on his own. Right now, he takes about 50% of his milk on his own, and the rest goes through ...

We Have Our Baby

Posted by:

Davis Duane McIlroy was born yesterday, May 24th. He is breathing on his own and doing pretty well for being born at only 33 weeks. We came in to the hospital on Sunday evening because Alisha had swelling and high blood pressure, symptoms of preeclampsia. Although certain meds can help keep blood pressure low, the only cure for preeclampsia is to deliver the baby.

So they started inducing Alisha yesterday afternoon. Everything was going fine, until the baby’s heart dropped for a ...

Impending Baby

Posted by:

We weren’t expecting a baby until July, but last night, Alisha had high blood pressure and a lot of swelling, so we came in to the hospital, and she does have preeclampsia. Her blood pressure is high enough that the doctors want to induce her now. She is 33 weeks along, and although that is early, her doctor seems to think the baby should be ok.

She will be induced tonight at midnight, and should have the baby tomorrow. You can ...

Plans

Posted by:

It doesn’t seem like there’s a lot to write about, since we are here in the states. But we have been visiting our supporting churches and continuing to help Alisha’s mom at home. Even though I am anxious to get back to AP, it is good for us to be here now.

I will be making a trip to extend my visa in June for two weeks. Hopefully, it won’t be any longer than that, because I’m supposed to get back ...

Life

Posted by:

A lot has happened for us in the last few months. Some good, some bad, some things that we didn’t expect. God has worked out everything for us in a that we probably wouldn’t have chosen, but from our perspective now, the timing seems perfect. We have been in Washington now for about a month and a half. We are helping Alisha’s mom get things settled after Clint’s death. That may take a few months or so to do, but ...

Gone

Posted by:

For those of you who don’t know, Alisha’s dad passed away two weeks ago. I apologize for the delay in letting everyone know, but I just haven’t had a chance to post an update til now. It seems that he died peacefully in his sleep. We got to see him before he died, and when he did go, it seemed like the right time. Thank you again to everyone who has prayed for us and the family.

The McIlroys
