Final immunizations!

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Thursday, October 13th, 2011

Sara and I just received our final immunizations for leaving for Indonesia. Now we just have to take our oral Typhoid to finish everything for this next 4 year term.

We are counting the days and are blessed to see how the Lord has been piecing everything together for us along the way. Thank you for your prayers!

Four weeks left!

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Saturday, October 1st, 2011

Invite picWe have just four weeks left in the USA! We are excited about leaving for Indonesia and joining the team there. We have much to do between now and our leave date and would appreciate the prayers for wisdom and focus as we get ready to leave, and also that we will adapt quickly to the culture there, in order that we can become the best servants for Christ as possible.

Packing again. . .

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Saturday, July 23rd, 2011

P1060083Well, it’s that time again. Time to get up and move the family. This time it isn’t for very long, however, as this next move is a short transition before leaving for Indonesia. We will be moving to San Diego, CA for the months of August and September to plug into a couple of churches there. One is a supporting church and the other we are hoping will bring us onto their missionary support team.

From there we will be going back to Fresno, CA to finalize packing and any other last minute details before leaving October 29th for Jakarta, Indonesia. The girls have been getting psyched up for the long plane ride, and as you can see in the picture they are trying out their inflatable neck pillows :-)

Please pray for safety in our travels and adjusting to several temporary changes during our transition time before leaving the USA. <>< ZP

NTM Finance Q&A

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Monday, May 23rd, 2011
Pie graph

This is now a bit outdated - just an idea

Why is your recommended support level so high (usually between 5K – 6K/month)?  We do get this question every once and a while as the initial amount seems quite high so we’d like to explain. . . (more…)

Our early May Midwest Trip

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Monday, May 16th, 2011

On the road again
On the road again

We had the privilege of taking a trip with our family to Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas this early May for about a week, primarily to visit friends and family as well as share with three churches about our ministry.

We flew into Oklahoma City, picked up a car and began our over 1200 mile loop.  We drove to Arkansas to visit some friends and share at their church, Branch Southern Baptist Church.  What a great group of believers!

Then we drove up to the New Tribes Mission training center in Missouri to visit friends and shared with the church we were a part of while living there, Communion Chapel Bible Church, over a Saturday breakfast. Great fellowship there!  Right after breakfast, we drove to Kansas.

In Kansas we had a great time seeing family and sharing with Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church (my grandparent’s sending church when they were missionaries to Congo, years before). Thank you all for your hospitality. We enjoyed seeing and visiting with you!

The girls did great traveling and enjoyed getting to meet many new and see some familiar faces. Thank you all for a great trip.

Passports and more. . .

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Friday, March 18th, 2011

The last couple of weeks have found us compiling a 102 page document that we excitedly mailed Wednesday the 17th to our Personnel department in Indonesia. This included applications for language school and other information for obtaining our student and work visas. Now we just wait until we get a pre approval then it is off to our local Indonesian consulate to get our actual visas. It is a bit of a process for this country but we’re marching through the work! Praise the Lord, one more step closer!

Week of 3/4/2011 Update

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Friday, March 4th, 2011

Mikayla with stuffyHello, just wanted to say the family is doing well and the girls are enjoying the warmer weather, after a quick freezing drop last week.

Here is what’s going on in our life: We got immunizations this last week for Indonesia. Still waiting to receive our passports so we can continue on with visas and immigration. More Speaking Opportunities! – we have been given the opportunity to share several times with different groups this month at Campus Bible Church. We look forward to meeting individuals and families there and hope to be an inspiration and encouragement while we try to connect on a more personal level there. We also hope and pray that the Lord would call some to partner with us through praying regularly for and with us and also some that would support us financially in the ministry as we prepare to go take the Gospel to those not yet reached with it.

“Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”  I Corinthians 15:58  <>< ZP

ACC Men’s Breakfast

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Sunday, February 13th, 2011

Mens breakfastAuberry Community Church held their anual Missions Men’s Breakfast and I was one of three men who were asked to share on a panel as missionaries that were from Auberry Church.  Both guys are friends of mine and also serve with New Tribes Mission.  We had a great time answering questions about what we are and will be doing as career missionaries from many of the guys  from the ACC church body.

Sharing at Harvest Christian Fellowship

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Friday, October 1st, 2010

We had a great time sharing our “Missionary Testimonies” at Harvest Christian Fellowship, where we attended for a couple of years while living in San Diego. Here Sara is showing what a “Tribal Bible” looks like in more than two thousand languages around the world (it is a blank book).  We had time to share about our call to missions and evangelizing least reached peoples as well as encourage and challenge others to do the same, in their communities as well as around the world.  Thanks Harvest! We look forward to being another extension of your church arm to those who need Jesus Christ. – Hey, and what better way to end this than with great cooking! We loved the food too :-)

It’s off to the ZOO!

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Saturday, June 5th, 2010

Butterfly

We went, a couple of weeks ago, to the St Louis Zoo for our 9th anniversary. We heard it was a free zoo and comparable to the San Diego Zoo which is a very nice one. Being about 3 and a half hours away, we decided to go and see the arch while we were there as we haven’t seen either one before. Both the zoo and the Arch were very neat and the weather, a bit drizzly, was nice compared to the hot and humid previous days.

P1020710Now, we have finished our work and training at the NTM Missionary Training Center and have been tying up loose ends before we pack up for California. Last week, I built a boxed in trailer from a small flat bed we bought for our trip home. Oh, we did find a good trailer! And it is nice and sealed up now to travel through the fiercest Tex/New Mex storms. . . I also was able to put our auto shop to use as I did some body work on the van (both sliding doors had some bad rust spots so I grinded it all out and patched them up). Matching the paint was a bit tricky, so I sprayed on some gritty bed liner on the running boards and then some clear coat so that they look sharp :-) Now it’s time to clean the home up and pack for CA.

Wrapping up class. . .

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Monday, May 17th, 2010

We have two days left of training. . .!!! The tech course has been going great! There is so much to learn in order to be a great all rounder for trouble “finding”, maintenence and repair. I have enjoyed this class and look forward to puting it into practice whenever the Lord lets me.

Aside from the Tech work, we have been learning to continue to trust in the Lord and lean on Him for our strength in all matters! This is, of course, an ongoing process, but we glean every bit we can in hopes to glorify Him and also be a help and an encouragement to others along the way.

Current plans: we will leave here the 12th of June to slowly head back to CA where we will begin to meet with friends and family, sharing what God has done and will be doing in our lives and how others can be a part of ministering to others through us by partnering with us in prayer and financial support.  Let us know if you would like us to visit – we would surly enjoy it!

Future ministry possibilities -

New_Guinea_TopographyAs our time of training at the New Tribes Missionary Training Center comes near its close, we have been more carefully considering where we might serve and in what capacity. Over the past few years we have wanted to serve in Papua New Guinea and more recently we have felt led more to the Western half of the Island, which is Papua, Indonesia (same island and people, different customs and government as well as national language).  (Approximately where the O is on the map; the right side being PNG and the left being Papua, Indo.) January update

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Saturday, February 6th, 2010

CardinalWell, the snow is falling again and the roads are covered in slush, making traveling quite a slippery job. We have been enjoying the weather changes from 0 degree snow and ice to warm 60+ degree weather.  Here is one of many Cardinals that perch on the tree out front where Sara keeps bird feed. They love the colder weather although I think we all enjoy the warmer days more :-)

Please keep us in your prayers as we are both learning how to better serve others and the Lord, both now and when we arrive on the foreign mission field.

Young Life Outreach

Skippy the TroutSo. . . this is me talking with my pet Skippy the Trout. . . With a mouth full of worms (gummy worms).  We are giving a short skit to a game of worm bobbing from pie tins with brownie mix in them.  We are still having a good time with the students that come and we are also having more come to the Campaigners, about 15, which is where we have more discipleship time with them and get deeper into God’s Word.

Please continue to pray for the unbelievers that come here to hang out, that their hearts will be receptive to God’s message to them.  Also, numbers are down from last year with out much idea as to why. . . Ask the Lord to allow us to impact more teens in the area for His glory.
