The Three Amigos

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Saturday, July 23rd, 2011

P1060091This last week I (Zachary),my brother Philip, and brother-in-law Joel went on a short back packing trip to the high Sierras. We went to upper Twin Lakes and stayed two nights there while hiking up Kaiser peak’s twin.

We had a good time of fellowship, praying, and just plain being in awe of God’s beauty that surrounded us. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for us either. I will sure miss this country for the next four years, but I know that I will grow to love our new home just as much.

Jacob and Ellie having a good time!
Jacob and Ellie having a good time!

It seems like just a few months ago we were having our first baby girl.  This last Sunday, June 5th, Elizabeth had her second birthday. We had a great time with some family and friends as this will be her last time to celebrate such a day with her family until she is about six. Time goes by fast, and I know our next four years will too.

April Snow

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Thursday, April 14th, 2011

April snowWell, this last week was a bit cold as you can see in the picture taken in our front yard. (We were going around in shorts, shirts and flip flops the week before).

Well, sometimes life can be this way with the unexpected taking a curve-ball at us, but, be encouraged “where there’s a shadow, there’s a light”.  Jesus is our source of strength and a constant in tribulations. Praise the Lord!

Please pray for us as we continue to work on raising our girls in a Christ honoring way and as we continue to “potty train” Ellie (it’s going a bit slow as she is a bit young . . . :-)

The Death of our Minivan

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Sunday, February 13th, 2011

Our vanOur family minivan finally died this last week due to heart failure. . . uh, transmission failure. With the high mileage and some growing engine trouble, we have been advised not to put another penny into the car.  When it broke down on me this last week, I just asked the Lord to provide what we needed. After only a couple of phone calls, we were blessed to have another vehicle offered for us to use until we leave in July. Praise Jesus for yet another need met in an awesome way!

Please pray for a healthy delivery and healthy baby too!  Also, this will be a time of change for us three as we have just started to figure out one :-) now here comes #2. We are excited about this one and can’t wait to find out if it is a girl or a boy too.  Thank you for your prayers!

Ha Ha Tonka

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

TonkaOkay, I’m not sure what you are thinking when you see this name, but I laughed. It really is a place, not far from where we live and it actually means Laughing Waters in Osage (named by the Native Americans from our area).  There are several very beautiful trails there and one we went on took us to a “castle” that was built in 1904.  It was built byIrish stone masons and later burned down (’40′s I think). Going all natural. . .With Ellie

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Well, we have been slowly introducing home made baby food to Ellie for the last couple of months and she seems to like solids quite a bit. She really liked sweet potatoes for a while, although lately she prefers butternut squash. She also likes pears, avocado, sweet peas, AVOCADO, prunes, avocado, and other squashes. But her favorite right now is. . . well, you get the point.

On top of home made food and breastfeeding we have been making baby wipes. We have done this for some time and she rarely has any rash problems. We have recently been getting cloth diapers and we are almost set to completely use these on her now. They are about two to three times larger than her disposables so it makes her look a bit frumpy and she doesn’t quite like them completely yet. Though there is a bit of a start up cost here, they will pay for themselves in several months and then we will be saving money over the next year or so and we can use them if we have any more children, which we would like sooner or later :-)

Ellie has been growing and moving around more and more. She can stand shortly on her own, just until she knows she is, then she seems to be scared and sits down right away. She loves music, reading books, and making dinosaur noises. . . She hates shots!!! We love to see her explore and grow in her understanding and responses too.

Please continue to pray for hear overall health and for us in raising her to glorify the Lord! Thank you! <>< ZP

January update

Posted by Zachary and Sara Prieb on Saturday, February 6th, 2010

CardinalWell, the snow is falling again and the roads are covered in slush, making traveling quite a slippery job. We have been enjoying the weather changes from 0 degree snow and ice to warm 60+ degree weather.  Here is one of many Cardinals that perch on the tree out front where Sara keeps bird feed. They love the colder weather although I think we all enjoy the warmer days more :-)

Please keep us in your prayers as we are both learning how to better serve others and the Lord, both now and when we arrive on the foreign mission field.
