Fall ColorsWe have been enjoying the fall weather and the changes it brings.  Our classes have been exciting: as our “Dobu” class finished with three final papers we then began taking a “Practical Skills” class (for jungle living) and we have been enjoying it.  One of the requirements of this simple living class was to limit our computer use as well as all electricity use as we are trying to emulate how life in a tribe will be and how we can make the best of it.  Some of the course material included how to build structures (home, etc. ) all out of hand tools that only use elbow grease (now power tools).  Many missionaries have chain saws for larger cuts and slabbing wood for siding so one class was how to maintain and work on chain saws.  We covered topics from plumbing and construction to cooking and preserving from scratch, utilizing what ingredients are available.  We learned how to cut each other’s hair and orderd food for our two week period by a hand held radio, just as many missionaries do when ordering supplies from a local village while they are in a tribe.  This was a great course as many of them have been on Bible teaching and language learning, this was a good help on the practical day to day living skills.
