Pre Field Orientation Wraps Up

Posted by Tom and Danielle Brendle on Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

Last night PFO wrapped up with a wonderful evening as the seventeen associate missionaries enjoyed a traditional (mostly traditional) Papua New Guinea mumu and a great evening of fellowship. At one point during the evening the associate missionaries shared how God brought them to the point of being willing to serve. We wish you could have heard those testimonies. They also shared that PFO was extremely helpful and encouraging. It has been our pleasure to be a part of sending new missionaries to the field. We couldn’t have done it without our team of partners praying, encouraging and giving financially. Thank you for being a part of the work of getting the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

God, through his people, provides another translation tool

Excerpts from Siawi-snippets on behalf of Linda Krieg:

As the last few days slowly trickled away, it seemed that the Lord’s answer was “No,” to the idea of having a mini-computer brought over to PNG from the States. Knowing that people were praying, I was content with that answer. Then, just in the nick of time, the Lord led one of his children to check out the possibilities and find what seemed like a good ‘fit’ for our translation needs. He would be even be able to help with the cost.

Nokee often puts in 2-3 hours a day, learning to type and use the programs. Soon now, I will be introducing him to working on doing grammar and spelling corrections in Hebrews.

SIAWI NEW TESTAMENT: Completed: 72.83% In process, 2 Corinthians: 3.27% Estimated funds needed to print New Testament: $20,000.00 (Note that this estimate is moving upward, because the quote I had before didn’t include as sturdy a cover as we’d like to see used on the Siawi New Testament-and it may rise yet again.) Funds available: $8307.00 Publication Goal: Completed end of 2011 and printed early 2012. Gifts for this project should be designated “Siawi NT Printing Account”

Pre Field Orientation

Posted by Tom and Danielle Brendle on Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Thanks for Praying! Another Pre-Field Orientation has been completed. Please continue to pray for the new missionaries as they work at raising support and develop their ministry partner teams. Several of the missionaries gave testimony that the orientation was enjoyable and vital. Dan thanked God for the ministries of the veteran missionaries, who were there to guide them through the process of planning and preparation to serve overseas. He thanked us and shared that without encouragement from our office they would not have known how to proceed or have the tools he has now to leave what he knows and enter into another culture and Location to serve the Lord. Thank your for being a part of our team helping to mobilize associate missionaries with New Tribes Mission.

The Siawi Church celebrated Christmas this year. It was different than yours for sure but the focus was still on the gift of Gods Son. Read the full story by following this link.

Our First PFO

Posted by Tom and Danielle Brendle on Thursday, November 12th, 2009

This past week has been the highlight of our ministry with the Associate program thus far. We were able to help to orientate 7 people who will be going to Papua New Guinea as associate missionaries.

Please be praying for Shirley, Murray and Paula, Drew and Bobbi, Stephanie, and Layne. We met with them for 5 days from 7:30 in the morning until 7:30 or later each night. They were given information on topics ranging from the purpose and core values of New Tribes Mission and culture transitions to communicating with your support team. Danielle and I had the opportunity of praying with them each morning. The highlight for me was hearing their testimonies of how God led each of them to the point of serving in missions. I had the opportunity to speak on planting churches in remote areas. These along with many other topics were covered and discussed as they prepare to transition from the US to their field of ministry. As you can imagine they are still probably trying to digest all that information.

Please be praying for them as they now seek to raise support and prepare to go to their field of service.
