In some exciting news, we are hopefully anticipating leaving for the field of Mozambique by the beginning of 2010. The field leadership committee has decided to work in a team format for language learning, and we are more than excited to be partnering with our good friend, Jerry. He is going over as a teacher and will be teaching missionary’s kids, like Caden. We have been given the option of either 1) Going over with Jerry in September to Portugal to begin our language study at a university, or 2) Waiting until January of 2010 when the staff can more properly accomidate us and going with Jerry straight to Mozambique. We have all been praying that we would be able to bypass Portugal for various reasons (i.e. low success rate for mothers, expenses, extra transitions, variation in dialect, etc). So the fact that they were even giving us the option #2 was an answered prayer. However, it is still not entirely final. We are currently waiting on the field committee to get back to us on whether or not we can set the date. If so, we will be the first team to go straight to Moz this way. There are many benefits and hardships that come with this, and probably many more we aren’t even aware of and won’t be until we get there. But we are hoping and praying that God will open that door and allow us to get there right away. Exciting (and nerve-wrecking) stuff! Can’t believe how fast the time is going. So we have a lot to do before the year is up. See how you can partner with us and make it all happen.
