There’s Green in The Desert!
It’s monsoon season, and during this time, it’s not uncommon to have flash flooding! While we were gone for 3 weeks, some of our co-workers had to sandbag around our house! Can you believe it? Thankfully, the water receded before it got that high. When we returned, we were shocked to see all the tall green grass, plants and weeds! It was beautiful! We got busy the next morning to cut grass, trim plants and pull weeds. It was even a temptation to let the weeds stay since they’re green! We’ve been warned that it won’t last long, so enjoy it while we can!
THANK GOODNESS FOR AIR MILES!
Kay has her tickets! On Sept 14 she will board a plane for Cairns, Australia, where she’ll meet Jenny, Mitch and the boys. She’ll arrive just 4 days before the due date of the 4th little Hoskins boy!
Having a baby in Australia has it’s complications. After receiving the birth certificate, and in order to get the necessary paperwork (passport and visa) before returning to PNG, the baby must be “sighted” in Sydney. Kay will take care of Micah, Simon and Zeke while Mitch, Jenny and the new baby fly to Sydney and back to get this process going.
How long the whole process will take is very uncertain when waiting on God’s timing for the baby to be born, as well as waiting on government offices to complete paperwork. Pray for no “hang ups” !
Kay is very excited to spend this time with Jenny, Mitch, and of course the grandkids!

EIGHT FOR A DAY!
We had the privilege of sharpening our grandparenting skills yesterday! We looked after 8 little ones (all 7 yrs and under), while their parents went to Tucson to plan a youth event that will happen in December. Mealtimes were a little messy, it got interesting juggling their naps, and we’ve never changed so many diapers in a day, but everything went super well and they were all “happy campers” all day! They’re such good kids! We kept counting throughout the day to make sure we still had eight.
GUESTHOUSE UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Here at the aviation training center, we have a lot of people coming and going and a lot of visitors. An ongoing problem is the shortage of housing. We are thankful for the volunteer teams that come to help in various ways. Recently, we had a construction team come for about two weeks to build a guest facility. Not only did they make excellent progress on the building, as you can see by the pictures, but they also provided most of the financing. This new facility will replace some of the very old guest trailers that have required constant maintenance to keep them functioning.
PNG HELICOPTER FLYING AGAIN!
After five months and many long hours of work, P2-NTH is flying again! The fuel cells have been repaired and the engine almost totally redone. The helicopter-only locations look forward to being served again! We thank the Lord for His provision of this tool to help speed the gospel to the remote areas in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
BUILDING AN AIRSTRIP IN THE JUNGLE (Excerpts from one of our co-workers)

After taking out every tree and root on the 600 meter strip, the people from 5 different villages gathered at the “soon to be” airstrip, to walk up and down to help pack the ground. A short rain one day helped too.
It’s amazing what the people have been able to do with shovels, machetes, and a few rakes!!!
They started at one end and walked in a big mass towards the other end. One man said, “Hey, this is what the children of Israel looked like coming out of Egypt!” They walked back and forth and the heat of the sun was intense. Everyone had their umbrellas and the ladies with children took turns walking and then sitting in the shade and then joining up again the next go around.
Then, the young boys started kind of jogging. Then, it was more like a race. They would wait for everyone to get to the one side and then they would start again. Even the older ladies with children were running.
R44 ARRIVAL IN THE PHILIPPINES
-

Container arriving safely
Thank you for praying for the progress of our R-44 helicopter. It arrived in the Philippines a few weeks ago and got out of customs with almost no problems! That was a huge answer to prayer!

Assembly done!
The uncrating and assemblying has been done. The next hurdle is paperwork. Please pray for Joel Davis as he works to get the helicopter registered with the local “FAA” so that it can fly there. There are missionaries waiting to get into their tribes, and they are waiting for the helicopter to get them there!
Tim and Kay Hughes connecting you to tribal missions

Have you ever seen cotton bales? We hadn’t. . .until the other day as we were driving down Davis Road. These things were as big as semi trucks and packed solid.
