of translation work and a new road

1 Peter 2:2 says that we are to “…desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.” And Colossians 1:10 says, “That you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

Thank you for praying for us as we work on the translation, we are on schedule to accomplish all the goals we set for ourselves during this trip.

Translation isn’t all about sitting here ...

1,865 Verses

That’s how many verses have been translated into Nahuatl so far.  Each verse goes through a long, careful, (and to be quite frank) sometimes painful process.  A passage is studied out, in English, Hebrew or Greek, and sometimes Spanish.  An exegetical draft is written and communicated to a native speaker.  Questions are asked and answered, clarification is supplied.  The native speaker gives the rough draft in Nahuatl, sometimes five or six times in a row until both translator and ...

Answer in March 2017

We had been given a challenging question, in January, and we thank you for thinking with us on how to answer it. Our missionary speaker had actually admitted to us that he was not sure there would be only one right answer to what God’s main theme is for His work here on earth – God is certainly more comprehensive than we can fully describe. But He gives us the privilege of still being a part of what he is ...

Of scripture checking, ammonia poisoning and things that steal your joy

Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehimiah 8:10 (NKJV)

Joy for the believer is a God-given gladness found when we are in communion with Him. When our goal is to know more about Him, the outcome will be His joy in our lives.

Thank ...

Merry Christmas from our home to yours

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Merry Christmas

We love this season of the year where we take time to reflect and rejoice in all that was accomplished for us through the arrival of that babe – Immanuel, God in the flesh! What wonderful grace bestowed on mankind!

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Thankful: Here in America it is “that time of year;” our Thanksgiving holiday is only a week away! We are truly THANKFUL for each one of you who are part of our lives and the ministry to the Higaunon people in the Philippines. We cannot do what we do without you; your prayers and financial partnership are vital.

Answered prayer: In our last update ...

A Missing Idol

by Rachel Chapman

As we were getting ready to leave Las Moras this last time, I took time to talk with my Nahuatl friends directly about the Scripture portions that we had been translating.  One of the last times with Queen, I asked her what she was believing.  She said, “I believe what we’ve been translating.  I believe that it is all true and that is what happened.”

Counting the Cost

Andrew is one of the good guys. At least, out here, he is. Andrew is our neighbor to the south, and a father of 11 kids. He’s short, like most of the men out here, maybe 5’5,” and stout, with a thin graying moustache.   Two weeks after we moved into the village back in 2011, he disappeared. Rumors trickled into the community about him being seen in one village or another. They all claimed he seemed scared, ...

Thirty three years!

about 90 people attended the conference

MEMORY LANE: Thirty-three years ago this week we moved into the Higaunon village that we’ve called “home” in the Philippines. We joined our coworkers, Ron and Michelle Jennings, in the work where they had been for two years. The gospel had just been presented a few months before we moved there.

We’ve seen God accomplish so much in the years since:

  • The death of the first Higaunon missionary, which brought much growth to the church
  • The “sifting” of the church through persecution
  • Many baptisms
  • The discipleship ...

us at Frye's

Greetings from Oklahoma!

It’s Tuesday August 2 and we’ve been home a week already. How thankful we are for our own home! Praise God with us for a safe and successful road trip. What a wonderful time we had with family, friends and ministry partners! We had invitations to visit more of you, but we just were so tired and wanted to get home and settled. For those we didn’t see, thank you for understanding and most of all, thank you ...
