a new year with new opportunities

Posted by:

This new year is filled with wonderful opportunities to continue serving alongside some wonderful servants of the Lord to see God’s Word have access into the languages in all the corners of the world.

Here’s a quick look at the current plans for 2017:

  • England to the missionary candidate training center. We will also have trainers from W. Africa joining as they prepare to begin literacy training in Senegal in French later this year.
  • quick trip to N. Ireland to visit some friends, just for ...

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through ...

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Thankful: Here in America it is “that time of year;” our Thanksgiving holiday is only a week away! We are truly THANKFUL for each one of you who are part of our lives and the ministry to the Higaunon people in the Philippines. We cannot do what we do without you; your prayers and financial partnership are vital.

Answered prayer: In our last update ...

4 more weeks & 4 more languages!

Greetings from the Philippines. We are more than half done with our around-the-world trip and praising God for His faithfulness every step of the way.

We spent a month in Senegal where we held a literacy workshop for the field and then worked with 3 languages, writing literacy curriculum so that people would be able to learn to read the Bible translated into their languages. One of these languages was that particularly ...

How to be thankful in all things

Posted by:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

1 Thess 5:16-18 commands us to “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (NIV) How many times have you read these verses and thought to yourself, “How in the world does God expect me to do that?”  Always be joyful.  Constantly praying.  And the last one, give thanks in all circumstances.  I mean really, come on.  How does He expect us to do that?

Lately this ...

It’s beginning to look like… Christmas?

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, at least in the lobby here at New Tribes! You may have heard of Christmas in July sales (especially if you craft) but around here Christmas comes in August. We’re busy filming a special video that will be released during the holidays. We will need the next couple months for post-production editing in order to have it ready in time.

Set up was today (Tuesday). Filming will be tomorrow through Friday. We have ...

Not a Poor Man’s Gift

Group Praying, Bible, Sepia

Prayer matters. It is powerful. When we visit churches, families, and individual people to tell them about our ministry, people seem to offer prayer as the easy way out- like the real commitment to this ministry is the financial one, and if they can’t manage that then then can “at least” be in prayer. There are days when this feeling sinks into my own heart as well.

Then God reminds us of all He has done to provide for us- in ways ...

us at Frye's

Greetings from Oklahoma!

It’s Tuesday August 2 and we’ve been home a week already. How thankful we are for our own home! Praise God with us for a safe and successful road trip. What a wonderful time we had with family, friends and ministry partners! We had invitations to visit more of you, but we just were so tired and wanted to get home and settled. For those we didn’t see, thank you for understanding and most of all, thank you ...

Jerry & Joyce

All the preparations are coming to an end and it’s about time to embark on our long trip. We will be working in 3 countries (Senegal, Burkina Faso and the Philippines) on 8 languages. And the route takes us completely around the world! But what excites our hearts and motivates us is that God will use this time so that many, many people will be able to learn to read His Word in their own languages.

We appreciate your ...
