Ministry Update

Posted by:

Ministry at NTBi is going really well. Thank-you for praying and giving so that we can train the next generation of missionaries to go around the world sharing the gospel. Life at NTBI continues apace with students pouring thousands of hours into the study of God’s word and sharing what they are learning with others. Perhaps one of the most enjoyable aspects to me is my work with the Evangelism program here. We are seeing students begin to share their ...

Family Update

Posted by:

Thank-you for your prayers and faithful financial support for our family as we minister at New Tribes Bible Institute in Jackson! We’re certainly busier here than we were in a small-ish village in Thailand! Where does the time go? Over a year ago Ric began an ambitious project to get all the tests, quizzes and assignments at NTBI put in a digital format online. This saves teachers and graders many hours of work as learning technology allows for instant grading ...

Where We’re Headed…

Posted by:

Maybe you haven’t heard yet. Pretty cool news.
  1. NTBI is getting accredited (yay)
  2. I am helping in that effort by earning a Masters in Education Technology from Central Michigan University (huzzah)

What does that mean? Our accrediting agency (TRACS) requires at least one staff member receive a Masters in Education in order to oversee and teach general education classes here at the school. When I finish the degree my full-time job will be to oversee this program as director of general education.

General education… that doesn’t ...

Catch the Vision 2016

Posted by:

I had the privilege of speaking at the opening session for NTBI Jackson’s 2016 Free Campus Visit that we call “Catch the Vision.” 54 potential future students and their families attended the event. Many of them gave great feedback about their experiences!

During the opening session I challenged the students about the idea of worldview, and how we can buy into three lies when we’re making decisions in our lives: pietism, hedonism and materialism. Very practically, the students themselves have many options about where ...

Albuquerque is a big place!

Posted by:

ABQ map2After 6 months in NM, we are finding out just how big a place ABQ is. It is located within Bernalillo county, which has a total area of 1,167 square miles, of which 1,161 square miles  is land and 6.4 square miles is water (this beach lover can’t seem to find the water). The map shows a few of the churches we have been working to make contact with. Population is approaching 700,000. We’ve had some success finding a few folks familiar ...

Keep Your Boots On

Posted by:

One of my favorite aspects of working down at New Tribes Bible Institute is that I get to see a lot of my family every day. I’ve mentioned my family before on this blog as early as 2008, 2009 and 2010. “Pop” is Richard Kenneth Bruce Sr., and one of my heros. He may be almost 80 years old but he’s still got his “boots  on” when it comes to ministry. He works in the carpenter shop at NTBI and this ...

Hold the Ropes

Posted by:

guy-hanging-off-a-cliff-on-a-ropeOne of the many roles I’ve been filling at New Tribes Bible Institute is to help with a program we call “Hold the Ropes.” As part of my duties I read hundreds of missionary prayer letters and select the ones students will read and pray over during an all-day missions emphasis. Students are broken up into groups and read the letter from “their” missionary and then pray with their friends about that missionary’s needs. This past week I also delivered a ...

New Tribes Bible Institute

Posted by:

This fall I (Ric) will be volunteering my time at NTBI in Jackson, MI to help with the evangelism/outreach program and to mentor, disciple and encourage students there. I hope that my field experience and general life experience can help students hone and refine their own personal philosophy of evangelism and outreach. For example, the Apostle Paul gives us his philosophy of evangelism in 1 Corinthians 9:22: To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all ...

A letter from the heart

Veter 2015-WEB-C-04

Brian has been working hard with a team of students who are staying over the summer to keep the school in tip top shape. His HUGE project has been stripping and re-waxing the gym floor, taking up old lines as well as laying down new lines for the volleyball court.

We had a great senior class, and if you’ve been following us on our Facebook ministry page (Search for Brian & Tamara Vetter), you saw pictures, videos, and an update on ...
