Our work with the Mengen people started many years ago. I remember the early days where we struggled to learn an unwritten language. It was an uphill battle, trying to repeat back different sounds and to write things the way we heard them! We were often overwhelmed as we immersed ourselves in the Mengen culture, trying to gain insight into the thinking and customs of the people we had come to minister to. By God’s grace, we were able ...
Hope you are doing great! We are aprouching the end of our time in SA and have less than 3 weeks left before we start our journey back to PNG. Amongst the Mengen believers things are going on well.
Progress in translation
I am especially thrilled about how things are progressing with our translation. Recently we had some helpers hiked out of our village to our missions centre to meet up with our co werker, Rebecca Preheim. They then spend a ...
Hope you’re all doing great. Things here are going well in South Africa! We are again approaching the time to greet and even though it’s still a few months before we leave we are starting to plan and even pack. Together with this comes allot of emotions but I will leave this to Marie to share as she is preparing a bit of family news.
So here is a bit of Mengen news for those who are sharing the load with us.Most of you know that we have decided ...
I hope you guys are doing great! Thanks for partnering with us and especially for praying for the Mengen believers. Today I would like to introduce you to Gabby. He is one of our Bible teacher trainees. When I got to know him he was living in a different village about 3 days hike away from us. Hope you are all doing great today! Another friend I would like to introduce to you guys and ask that you would pray for him is, Alex. He is the older brother of Brus, maybe you can remember him?
Any way Alex is also a very special friend of mine and someone I dearly love and care for. He also had a typical animistic back ground and was not very positive concerning the evangelical teaching in the beginning. He together with ...
Its always amazing to see how God is planting His church worldwide but also in Papua New Guinea amongst the Mengen people. Not many years ago they were in darkness, but many have placed their trust in Christ and now they are goring into a self-sufficient church!
Just this morning, I received the following prayer request from the Mengen leaders,
“We want to share a prayer point for you to put us in God’s hands as we as Bible teachers and ...
Thanks for standing in prayer with us for the Mengen believers. Things are going well in the church although there is always room for growth. Here is another family that I would like to introduce to you guys. Please pray with us for them.
I would like to introduce Joe Waimo and Sande (Sunday) to you guys. Joe Waimo and his wife Sunday have 3 children. Their oldest daughter and her husband are wonderful believers and I have introduced you ...
Another Mengen family I would like to introduce to you guys is Eddie and Franseska. Eddie was one of the first Mengen believers many years ago, and have surely been one of our most faithfull language helpers, carriculem developers and translation helpers. But he has also developed into an exelent literacy teacher, teacher in the church and disciple-maker.
As with most Mengens he grew up as an animist but was unsatisfied with the answers ...
