While at Summer Institute of Linguistics’s (SIL) main center in the Papua New Guinea Highlands we got to sit down with the pastor who stopped to pick up Jon at the accident scene. This good Samaritan got him on the PMV (public motor vehicle) and held him as Jon bled all over him.

Safe Arrival in PNG

Praising God for a safe arrival into Goroka, Papua New Guinea!!! We had an amazing group of friends come out to see us at the airport from the NTM Center & even had our dear friends fly in from the SIL Center!!! So special guys, thank you all for coming!! We feel like we are home…such an incredible feeling!!

The Countdown Begins

Final Preparations

A little over 2 weeks until we leave.
Honestly, just feeling ready to go, excited about what lies ahead & ready to just settle into life & work in PNG. After living so long in transition, for all you ladies out there, puttering around my own home sounds heavenly!

We’ve got a good chunk of stuff packed, doctor & dentist visits done & shopping about finished. Thank you Lord!!

Tickets Booked

We’re thrilled, our tickets are bought for Papua New Guinea & we’re leaving February 7th!!!
Can you believe it? Thank you Lord!!!

We asked the boys if they are excited about leaving for PNG, Jaeden said, “Yes, but I’m sad because we won’t be traveling on the road anymore.” Whew, sounds like life on the road hasn’t fazed this guy!

Kodiak Flight Evaluation: Passed!

Today is December 15th. One year & 2 months exactly since the day of the accident.

After God miraculously saved Jon’s life, we have had endless prayers, months of recovery, countless people cheering us on & huge hurdles that God has given Jon the strength & endurance to overcome.

Kodiak Flight Evaluations

Today (Friday) Jon had a check flight in the Kodiak. It went well! Praise the Lord! He flies again on Tuesday with another instructor. The two of them will then compare notes and determine if Jon can fly the Kodiak again in PNG.

Pray for wisdom & precision for Jon as he does this last check flight. Pray for wisdom and discernment for his instructors as they evaluate Jon’s abilities.

Spare Leg and Another Hurdle

Where in the world are those crazy Leedahl’s now? At NTM Aviation in McNeal, AZ.

Pray for Jon as he has flight evaluations to see if he is ready for PNG. Even though he is cleared by the FAA to fly we need to make sure he can handle the PNG jungle airstrips. We will be in McNeal for a couple weeks as Jon flies with the NTMA flight instructors.

First Solo Flight with Prosthetic

On November 21st Jon flew his first solo flight in the helicopter!!!!
He took me & 2 of the boys with him. The look of pure JOY & contentment on his face was so FUN to watch. Can you imagine the thrill it was for Jon to be back in the cockpit, doing what he loves best?
Thank you Lord, this Thanksgiving for ALL of your incredible blessings in our lives & for giving back Jon his dream to fly again!!!!
