Micah and Malachi on the first day of school. Steve's first day of teaching the high school students.
I remember thinking back in May that summer was going to be SO long – three months – how would I keep them all occupied during those long days??? There is virtually no where to go, and nothing out of the day to day routine to do. Just me and the boys all summer hanging out here at the mission center as they watched most of their friends head back to the States. But, much to my surprise, this time seems to have gone by quickly. There were the occasional trips to the pool, a visit from friends from time to time, and a trip to the capital city to have a little vacation. Micah and Malachi took a little while to get used to playing with Ephraim again, but by the end of the summer they were doing great together. Now, I started to get a little panicky about it being just me and Ephraim all day together. No more Micah and Malachi to play Lego’s with him – back to just mom!
We have had three new ladies arrive in the past week who will be teaching in our school here on the center. One of them will have Malachi and a friend in her class and one will have Micah and two other kids in his class – talk about personal attention! We love knowing that we are able to get to know their teachers as they live and work with us. We love knowing that our boys are only a stone’s throw away from us learning, and that they come home for breaks, for lunch and are home in the early afternoon. It’s the best of both worlds – knowing that they are enjoying their time at school, but that we also get to be with them most of their day.
We pray that this is an amazing year for each of them as they are different classrooms and have time apart a bit. They are used to be together all the time and I think that they will grow individually as they get a little break from each other. We pray that they enjoy learning new things everyday!
