Just less than an hour from the Vermont line, our new home in Sherbrooke, Quebec is a world away from what we are used to.
Learning French is a daily humbling experience and we are in great need of your prayers that we would continue to grow in our understanding and fluency of this complicated language.
Our days are filled with French classes, tests, time in the lab, chapels, activities with French speakers and our hours of homework and study time. It is all designed so that we may leave here after a year with a good grasp of French in order to be able to share God\’s Truth with the people of Africa.
At the end of the day, our minds are exhausted, but when we think of the progress that we have already made in just a month, we are encouraged to “keep at it”.
The boys are doing well. Micah is really enjoying going to a bilingual school and is learning lots of French phrases. Malachi and Ephraim are making friends in their childcare and we are thankful that Ephraim seems to be becoming less of a “bully”. The boys are learning to ice skate and play hockey and now want to learn to ski!
We never forget the ultimate goal of this year! To be able to share with the people of West Africa about God\’s love for them is an overwhelming privilege that we are eagerly anticipating. Each new French word and phrase brings us a step closer to that goal!
Please be in prayer for our family…that we would have wisdom and patience as parents, that we would seek to put our spouse first, that the boys would have obedient and thankful hearts!
A big item for prayer is…replacing our computer. It is seven years old and several programs are not working and our screen has died. We need to replace it very soon.
One of our faithful supporters just sent me a card that recalled a message from our pastor …
“…To understand God\’s message is to have hope…To have hope is to have a tomorrow…To have a tomorrow is to have a song” Then she wrote “May the song in your own hearts grow richer and stronger as you prepare to share it with those whose hearts are yet silent.”
That is our prayer as well and we thank you for the part that you play in seeing us reach that goal!
