Dear Friends,                                         Proverbs 3:5-6                  SEPTEMBER 2010

Greetings from the Recalde family.

We Praise the Lord for each one of you and the help and blessing that you are to us! We want to thank you very much for Praying for us and for helping us financially each month! Thank you for being our co-workers!

Because of Samuel’s green card status, we need to stay another year here in the U.S.A. to establish residency before returning to our ministry in Paraguay. We are getting settled We are excited and looking forward to a great year of serving The Lord here at the NTM HOMES before returning to Paraguay. Please Pray for us, for wisdom, strength and stamina in our new responsibilities.

Samuel will be on the maintenance and construction crew and Tracy will be helping with housekeeping, receptionist and is also taking some medical classes such as, CPR, AED and Adult First Aid etc. in order to be able to help more with caring for our residents here. As staff at New Tribes Mission Homes, we will be “missionaries serving missionaries.” Many of you know that Samuel’s parents were saved years ago through the ministry of Duane & Mary Stous and Les & Loraine Pederson in Paraguay. Both couples are retired here at the Homes, so that is very special for us.

Following is from the letter that was sent out about us by the NTM Homes Administrator: (if you would like to read the full letter, we will be happy to send you a copy)

“The leadership team at NTM Homes has invited Samuel and Tracy Recalde to join our full-time staff. NTM Homes is the retirement community for missionaries who have served with New Tribes Mission. We have a population of 147 retired missionaries.

The cost is low in order to accommodate these missionaries. This is possible because all of the NTM Homes staff is not paid salaries, but serve as other New Tribes missionaries with the help of God’s people, as they give to the Lord.

Samuel will be a part of the grounds and general maintenance staff team. Tracy will assist in housekeeping, receptionist and kitchen duties. They will be accountable to the NTM Homes leadership team.

I am sure the Recaldes would covet your prayer support, and if possible, continued financial support for their New Tribes Mission ministry at NTM Homes. Churches like yours play a vital part in God’s provision for His servants at NTM Homes. We want to thank you for this. It is a privilege to have a part in the ministry of NTM as we partner together in “Reaching the Unreached.”

Because of Him Who loved us first,”  Dan Thomas - NTM Homes Administrator

Here at the NTM HOMES, Each street is named for one of the countries where New Tribes works. Kristina found the Paraguay one :-) KRISTINA (PARAGUAY CT.)Please Pray especially for our kids, Kristina and Nathan as they adjust to a new home, new school and make new friends. It is not always easy.

Please continue to Pray for the Pãi Tavytera Tribe, that many more will come to know the Lord and that God would burden hearts for the unreached Indigenous People of Paraguay! Please Pray for our Tribal Brother and Sisters back in Paraguay as they continue having Church and Bible classes in our absence. Please Pray that they will stand strong and not give in to Satan’s temptations  even when they are often persecuted for their Faith. Please Pray especially for Justino, Edgar and Hugo as they lead the men’s Bible studies and Sunday morning Church services. Pray for Mamila, as she continues to teach the ladies Bible class on Saturdays and Loli, as she teaches the children’s Sunday school class.

Thank you again for your help and Prayers! Thank you for being our co-workers!

RECALDE REFLECTIONS – JUNE 2010

NTM HOMES

Dear Friends,                                                                                    JUNE 2010

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (King James Version)

We want to share with you what has been happening in our lives and work during our time of home assignment.

Please Pray for us, as we have some exciting ministry changes coming up the first part of August…

Last year we approached our New Tribes Mission Leadership before leaving Paraguay about taking a longer furlough and during that time we would like to serve The Lord at one of the New Tribes Mission Bible schools or at the USA  headquarters in Sanford, Florida.

One of our reasons was for Samuel to get his green card. Basically a green card is an immigration visa. Samuel had a tourist visa and with it he was only allowed to stay for short periods of time in the U.S.A. and couldn’t work any paying job. We talked with our New Tribes Mission Paraguay Leadership about the possibility of applying for a green card for Samuel.

Secondly, we felt that it would benefit our two remaining children to live for awhile in the States and attend an English school, so that it isn’t such a drastic adjustment for them when they come back to the U.S.A. as adults.

Also with the economy problems in the U.S.A. the way it is, some of our supporters have let us know that they might have to stop supporting us, so we felt that it would be a good time to touch base with our supporters and co-workers in the U.S.A.

Our NTM Paraguay leadership gave us their complete approval and support in this,

Following is the part about us in the letter that was sent to the N.T.M. USA  headquarters by our Paraguay leadership:

concerning the Recaldes… Hi Stephen, We have a family (Samuel and Tracy Recalde) who have two adult daughters living in the States. Samuel is Paraguayan and Tracy is North American. Their third daughter (Stefany) graduated from HS and plans to attend Waukesha Bible School this fall. Their fourth daughter (Kristina) is 16. They also have son (Nathan) who is 11 years old. Samuel and Tracy would like to take a ministry in the States for about 2 years. They would like to travel to the US this December. They would plan to return to Paraguay after 2 years to minister here. We as a leadership team support him in his desires. Dan Crane (NTM Paraguay)

After receiving approval from the New Tribes Mission leadership, we went ahead and put in the petition for Samuel’s green card at the American Embassy in Asuncion. God worked miracles and the paperwork was processed quickly and he was approved. Within only a few weeks Samuel’s green card arrived in the mail! Now he needs to remain in the U.S.A. for one more year in order to establish residency before returning to Paraguay.

Did you ever wonder what happens to missionaries when they grow old??http://www.ntm.org/ntmhomes/about.php?page=about   NTM Homes in Sanford, Florida is a retirement center for New Tribes Missionaries. On June 16, 2010, we were interviewed by the leadership at the NTM Homes and we will be helping there for one year starting in August while Samuel establishes residency for his green card before returning to Paraguay. Samuel will be on maintenance and construction crew and Tracy will be helping with the retired missionaries there at the retirement center and some computer work etc. Please Pray for us as we adjust to this new ministry that God has given us for the next year. Please Pray also for our children, as they adjust to a new home, new school and make new friends.

Please continue to Pray for our Tribal brothers and sisters at the Colony, Tava Amboae in Paraguay as they learn to rely on God alone. We are confident that they will do a good job of teaching their own People in our absence.

Thank you for being our co-workers, as together; we are involved in taking the Gospel to tribal people. We are thankful to God for each of you who faithfully pray for us and send us financial gifts.

“For we are laborers together with God.” 1 Cor. 3:9 Thank you very much for Praying for us and for helping us!

Samuel, Tracy and Family

RECALDES REFLECTIONS (MARCH 2010)

Posted by Samuel and Tracy Recalde in Family, Prayer Letter on Mar 20th, 2010 | Comments Off |   Share
RECALDE FAMILY

Hello from Iowa. We have enjoyed the beautiful snow this winter but now spring weather has arrived and it is great to see the green grass starting to pop up.

We are excited to inform you that the video of our work with the Pai Tavytera Tribe in Paraguay is finally ready! We are looking forward to giving a report of our work and sharing with you the wonderful things that God has been doing at the Indian Colony. If you would like for us to come and give a report of our work in your Church or home, please contact us at:

Samuel_recalde@ntm.org, telephone: 641-814-2765, or you can write to us at: Samuel and Tracy Recalde 1442 Swanson Ave. Ottumwa, Iowa 52501

God is faithful! He has shown us his faithfulness many times and in many ways over the years! …for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.” Mathew 6:8At this time we are on furlough or as it is now called “home assignment.” You may be wondering why missionaries need to take a furlough, so we did some research and have put together a few “missionary definitions” of furlough:

Here are some things various missionaries have written over the years: “Admittedly, we do need furloughs —times of renewal for our battered bodies, weary souls. We minister in different languages among hostile people in oppressive cultures, all without fellowship and the Christian infrastructure Americans take for granted. Despite all this, God works through us “earthen vessels” and does impossible things for His Kingdom, receiving all the glory. Along the desert way, we are better footmen if we rest our bodies and refresh our souls at some oasis.”

“Missionaries go on home assignment to find people and to challenge them to come back and join us on the mission field. Every Christian should be sharing the Gospel right where they live but God is calling some Christians to leave the comforts of home and go share the Gospel someplace very different and very difficult. Missionaries go on home assignment to find such people and to assist those interested in missions to get to the mission field.”

“Furlough is a wonderful, blessed, crazy time. You are often put on a pedestal where you don’t belong and often attributed super-spiritual, super-human qualities, which you do not possess.”

“Furlough is a time in your home country to fund raise, network and thank friends for their support. It is a time of adjusting to many different things and a culture that is entirely new to children who have grown up in another country. Many nights there is a new bed, many miles added to the car and many pounds added to the waistline.”

“Furlough is having seven requests for services on the same date and wondering how to keep all your friends happy.”

“Furlough is watching your presentation 200 times and seeing something new on the 137th time.”

“Furlough is having a friend get up early, sneak your car down to the service station and fill up your tank without saying anything to you about it.”

“Furlough is giving the same story on 50 consecutive Sunday mornings and getting blessed yourself every time.”

“Furlough is learning how large and how big-hearted your spiritual family really is.”

“Furlough is answering the same questions night after night, but getting excited because people are really interested in your work.”

“During furlough a missionary has three main objectives: reports, relationships, and revival. Following the pattern set by the first missionary journey, there is a Biblical precedent for furloughs: Acts 14:27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles. 28 And there they abode long time with the disciples. Surrounded by a generous support group of churches, the missionary has responsibility to keep donors abreast of the progress of his ministry. While letters and e-mails provide thumbnails of information, few would argue that the personal contact a missionary has with supporting churches gives a broader perspective of who he is and what he is doing.”

“Furlough is all of the above . . . and more. And it’s all of that crammed into 12 months.”

Please Pray for us during this year of our furlough that it will truly be a time of renewing our strength, bodies and souls. Pray that that we will be a blessing to those we come in contact with here in the U.S.A. and that God will open doors for us to have many opportunities to share what God is doing in Paraguay South America and that through us, others will be challenged to go and share God’s Word with those who have not yet heard the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Please continue to Pray for our Tribal brothers and sisters back in Paraguay as they learn to rely on God alone during our absence. Thank you very much for Praying for us and for being our co-workers!

In Christ’s Service, Samuel, Tracy and Family

grandbabies THANK YOU

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.

Dear Friends, JANUARY 2010

Greetings from the Recalde family. Once again it is time to “catch you up” on what is happening and what we have been doing in the last couple of months.

First of all, we want to thank you very much for being our co-workers and Prayer-partners! Thank you for your sacrificial giving and Prayers! We thank God for the daily strength that he gives to us and for His faithfulness! We are enjoying the beautiful winter snow here in Iowa after the extreme summer weather that we had been experiencing in Paraguay. We are also enjoying time with our grown kids and two Grandbabies!

We are Praising God for an answer to Prayer: Samuel has received his green card (immigrant visa) in the mail already after arriving in the U.S.A.!

Please continue to Pray for the Church out at the Indian Colony. Satan is constantly at work and many of the Tribal People continue to struggle with alcoholism. Please Pray for the believers, as they learn to rely on God alone during our absence and for the Salvation of those who have not understood yet.

Please Pray for Loli, one of the young believers, as she teaches Sunday school to the children. Pray also for Justino, as he leads the Sunday Church services and Mamila, as she teaches the Tribal ladies Bible class each Saturday. We have confidence that they will do a good job of teaching their own People.

Please remember our kids in your Prayers also, that they would continually seek God’s will and have wisdom in decisions they make in their lives! Please Pray for Nathan and Kristina as they adjust to school in English during our time here in the U.S.A. We are praising God for another answer to Prayer that Kristina did well on the tests for going into her grade in the high school here.

Please Pray for us during our time of home assignment as we speak in churches and give a report of our work amongst the Tribal People of Paraguay and that through us many more will be challenged to go forth and teach The Gospel to those who have not heard.

Please continue to Pray for Tracy concerning the frequent headaches that she has been experiencing for the last few years which seem to be getting worse.

Thank you again for your help and Prayers! We are looking forward to seeing you soon and sharing with you the wonderful things that God is doing in Paraguay S.A.!

Dear Friends,     MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We want to thank you very much for your support! We really appreciate your help and Prayers!

We Praise the Lord for his strength and love that He showers on us daily as we seek to faithfully  carry out the responsibilities that He has given to us!

We are getting excited as it is getting close to time for us to go to the U.S.A. for our time of home assignment (furlough).

In our last letter, we asked you to Please Pray for us, as we have a time of home assignment in the U.S.A. coming up the first of next year 2010

As we mentioned in our last letter, One of our reasons that we have decided to take a furlough, is for Samuel to get his green card. Basically a green card is an immigration visa. What Samuel has right now is a tourist visa which is very limited.

After talking it over with our New Tribes Mission in Paraguay leadership, they gave us their complete approval and support in this, so we went ahead and put in the petition for a green card for Samuel at the American Embassy here in Asuncion. We will finish the process upon arrival in the U.S.A.

We plan to fly out of Asuncion the first week in December and hope to be with our kids and Grandbabies in Iowa for Christmas.

Please pray for our kids, Kristina and Nathan as they adjust to living in the U.S.A. for awhile and for a smooth transition into the school system there.

We look forward to visiting you, our supporters and co-workers and giving a report of our work amongst the Tribal People of Paraguay in your Church!

Please Pray concerning the Church leadership out at the Colony, Tava Amboae. Pray for Spiritual maturity for the Tribal leaders in our absence.

Praise God, the believers are growing Spiritually and the Church attendance has increased greatly. Pray for Mamila, as she will continue to teach the Saturday ladies Bible study classes on her own.

Please Pray especially for Loli, the young Tribal lady who will be teaching the children’s Sunday school class. Loli has been a wonderful helper and co-teacher with Tracy since the beginning and we have confidence that she will do wonderfully in teaching the children on her own now.

Please Pray for more laborers for the work here in Paraguay. There are still many who have not heard and much that still needs to be done!

Thank you very much for Praying for us and for helping us in our work here amongst the Ava Pãi Tribal People!

In Christ’s Service,

reach into the darkness

Dear Friends and Co-workers,                                              SEPTEMBER 2009FLAG-MAP OF PARAGUAY

“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…” Ephesians 3:20

We hope this letter finds you rejoicing in God’s love and tender care! Thank you very much for your prayers and support. The work is going well.

As we look back over the past few months, we are so thankful for the Lord’s faithfulness in our lives, even in the hard times! “for He is good, for His mercy endureth forever!”

We Praise God for His continual protection as we go back and forth between the town where we live and the Indian Colony to teach God’s Word.

We are thankful that Samuel and Stefany had a safe trip to the U.S.A. and were able to spend time with Rachael and Samantha and the babies before Stefany went to the Bible Inst.

Samuel & BabiesStefany & Chance

We have had quite the Winter this year in Paraguay, with extremely cold weather which suddenly changes to extremely hot overnight. There has been a lot of sickness in the country this year with a lot of emphasis on the H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu). Several of our children’s classmates have come down with it, but so far our family has escaped that particular flu.

Nathan and mask (Small)

Please Pray for us to have wisdom as we teach the Ava Paî People God’s Word and that many more will come to know the Lord as their personal Savior.

Tracy continues to translate children’s Bible studies from English to the Guarani language and teach Sunday School out at the Indian Colony! Loli, a young Tribal lady helps her to teach the children.  Please Pray for the Salvation of several of the children!

Tracy-Translation

The Tribal believers ask for Prayer for their marriages and families. Recently two couples from here attended a Believers ‘conference at another Indian Colony hosted by New Tribes missionaries there and came back excited and encouraged in The Lord.

We would also like to ask that you please Pray especially for Justino and Mamila, faithful Tribal believers from the Indian Colony where we are working. Justino’s 28 year old son, Andres from a former marriage was murdered here in the small town where we live. Andres was an alcoholic and drug addict and has been roaming the streets for about a year now. Last week was the burial out at the Indian Colony. It was the saddest burial that we have ever attended. Please Pray for Justino and the rest of the family. It is hard to know how to comfort them in this situation.

Thank you for Praying for the Tribal boys. They have finished the “initiation into manhood” ceremonies at the Indian Colony. So now the 12-14 year old boys have their lower lips pierced. Please Pray that they will all heal without any infection.

Young Tribal boys

Please Pray for the Saturday ladies meetings, wisdom for Tracy as she teaches them. Mamila, one of the ladies from the Indian Colony continues to help her with the teaching too.

We are excited and Praising God as we see the fruit of our labors! We have several new Tribal Believers and are planning a baptism for sometime soon.

Please continue to Pray for the Church here at the Indian Colony. There is a group of Believers who are faithful in spite of persecution from some of the chiefs.
