Ryan and Shelby Webb

Preparing to Reach the Unreached.....

About

Shelby and I (Ryan) are missionaries with New Tribes Mission. Our goal is to live with a remote tribal group in Papua New Guinea. This will involve learning their culture and language. Our prayer is that we can clearly communicate the gospel to them, translate the Bible into their language, and plant a strong, mature church among them.

New Tribes Mission does not pay us a salary. Our support comes from churches and individuals who desire to see God’s Word go forth to ALL people!! Will you prayerfully consider joining us as a financial partner in this ministry, and pray with us that these people will have the opportunity to know the saving grace that is only found in Jesus Christ?

We decided to go to PNG (Papua New Guinea) because God gave us a peace/excitement about going there every time we heard about it. We thought about other countries as well, like Indonesia where I grew up, but did not have a peace about those places like we did PNG. We know that it is Christ who will build His church and we are extremely excited to be a part of it, despite its difficulties!

What does tribal church planting look like?
• Learning the national trade language and culture.
• Contacting and making arrangements to move into the tribe.
• Build our house among the tribal people.
• Learn their tribal language and culture.
• Work on translating God’s Word into their tribal language.
• Teach God’s Word to them from the beginning.
• Disciple tribal believers and teach them from the Word of God.
• Establish a self-sustaining, self-governing church among them.

Facts about Papua New Guinea:
• Papua New Guinea borders Indonesia and is located right above Australia.
• Papua New Guinea is one of the worlds least explored geographically. The isolation created by the mountainous terrain is so great that some people groups until recently were unaware of the existence of neighboring groups only a few kilometers away.
• Papua New Guinea has more languages than any other country, with over 850 indigenous languages, representing twelve percent of the world’s total.
There are still many tribes in PNG that even beg for a missionary, and they have to turn them away because the workers are too few.
