Some highlights from my trip up north!
Jamie’s Ordination Service…
It was an honor to be there for this special day in Jamie’s life. An added bonus was that my parents were able to make the trip down from Canada for the service.
(My parents, me and Jamie.)
Family Camper Conference…
I did a first this year. I actually camped out at the three-day Family Camper Conference held by Second Baptist Church in New York. Well, I camped out with two of my sons in a borrowed pop-up trailer with a sleeping bag designed to keep you toasty warm even in the arctic. That was a huge blessing as usually it is just too cold for me! (A big thanks to Johnee and Julie Smith!)
The long weekend was the perfect opportunity for plenty of fellowship with church family. Times of worship in music under the meeting tent were great. And the messages? More than excellent!
(There I am in the black jacket with Laura [my mother-in-law] to my left. My son Jamie’s bald head is to my right. His lap has been taken over by two children who were quite disappointed that he was leaving!)
Meal, Coffee Houses & Chats…
In just over two weeks, besides the camper conference, I fit in seven meals and three coffee breaks with friends and supporters. Plus there were multiple visits with my boys, a party to celebrate Jamie’s 26th birthday, a Cochran family BBQ potluck, a day at the New York State Fair, a weekend trip to Canada — and even a visit to my chiropractor’s office. 🙂
And then there was the long drive back to Florida!
Thank you for praying for safety in all my travels and for your continued prayers as I work here at New Tribes Mission’s home office. I love getting to read the updates on the amazing things God is accomplishing around the world as I look for source material for articles.
Today I was polishing up an article about a tribal teenager who persisted in asking until missionaries came to his village — to the Waxe people. Kletus is in his late forties now and waiting with great anticipation as the Waxe New Testament is here at NTM Communications going through the final proofing stages before being sent to the printers.
Can you imagine how Kletus will feel when he finally has God’s Word in his own language? Truthfully, I think I’m too spoiled by having had multiple Bibles around my home for a lifetime to fully grasp how he will feel. But it’s got to be a great feeling!
Thanks again for your prayers!
