Robert and Martha Rutherdale

Mission pilot family enroute to Brazil

About

IMG_1176Robert- I was born into a Christian home. Through the teaching of my parents I knew I needed to be saved from a young age. I was saved when I was five years old. I do not remember what the preacher said that night but I remember asking God to save me beside my bed with my Dad beside me. I had the privilege of attending a Christian school where the education was based around the Bible. After school I worked on a dairy farm for six years and I loved it, all cows, no people. Then, I met Martha, I learned to mix with people again. Next thing I knew, we were engaged and looking forward to life together. Through meetings we attended together and through our Bible study, God challenged both of us separately about mission work. Shortly after getting married we attended New Tribes Mission Bible School. Afterwards God led us to America for aviation training at College of the Ozarks in Missouri. We have had great opportunities to be a testimony to other college students and through the fire department I volunteered at. God has continued to bless us and guide us day by day. We continue to look to Him for leading in our lives day by day.

Martha – I too was saved at the age of 5, in Sunday School. My Grandmother faithfully took my brother and I to church every week. During class I became very aware of the fact that I was a sinner and that I was going to hell. I went to my teacher after class and she showed me through God’s Word how to be saved. A few years later both my parents and my brother were saved. My parents decided to send us to a Christian school, where I was shown day by day through the Bible and the example of my teachers about living a godly life for His glory. In 1995 I went to London, England on a mission trip from our church to help a new church that was starting there. That was when I met Robert’s sister, who introduced me to Robert. The Lord started challenging our hearts about serving Him and shortly after we got married we went to New Tribes Mission Bible School in Matlock, England. While we were in Missouri, the Lord blessed us with 4 children, whom I home school. The Lord has really challenged my heart about serving Him in my home by teaching and being a witness to my children and this has allowed the Lord to bring the people He wants to encourage through our family.
