The Easter Story

I just finished a short video today called The Easter Story!  Paiye tells the Easter story in his own words, simple and stirring.

It’s official! I’m a new career member of New Tribes Mission!

Maybe you’re thinking, “I though you already were a member?”.  And you’re right – I came here four years ago as an associate member.  Associates can serve for six months to four years, and after that, well…you can’t be an associate any longer.  So, I became a career member!  Nothing has changed in my day to day ministry, but now I know the secret handshake. =)  I’m excited about continuing with New Tribes and seeing what God has in store for the future.

Answered prayer…in the making

One of my prayer requests has been to grow in faith, love and joy this year.  God is answering that request through a Beth Moore Bible study of James.  The greeting James gives in verse 2 means “Joy to you.” And we’ll be learning to live out our faith in loving one another, and that obedience  brings joy.  How sweet that all of those three things tie in together in this one book!

Prayer Requests:

  1. Pray that the details for the website projects would come together well.
  2. Pray that I would be able to steadily and quickly finish several small video projects we have going.
  3. Pray that I would be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, dependent on Him, and faithful in studying the Word.
  4. Pray for the home office move (sometime in the next 1-2 years) to go smoothly, and that God will provide housing for myself and my co-workers.

March 2012 Update

Posted by Regina Sullivan in Ministry on Mar 12th, 2012 | Discuss This Post

Encouraged by the Word and new team members
A women’s Bible study at my church recently studied humility, service, seeking God first, honoring others, and working with all your heart. How refreshing to be reminded of the basics and what my attitude should be everyday as I serve with New Tribes communications team. We have a some new writers, and that has been an answer to prayer!

Videos for New Tribes Bible Institute
Three new NTBI videos are nearly ready to be distributed. Last week I received the audio track from a local composer. The next steps are to export the videos in various formats for download, create two webpages, design a DVD menu, create the DVD, and set up a Youtube channel! These are just some of the things involved in getting short videos distributed, so more students can be challenged to grow in their walk with the Lord and prepare to serve Him.

Subtitles and Web sites
Last week found me searching for a Korean font, so we can add those subtitles to Awayo: Fear to Faith. New Tribes is an international organization, and we are helping other sending countries, like Germany and Italy, develop new web sites. I’m looking forward to when the sites will “go live.”

What’s happening in Africa, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region?
(Read more stories at ntm.org/field-news)
New church plants?: Missionaries visited the Guarani Nandeva people to evaluate their need for missionaries.
Airdrops: Since the Banwaon village airstrip is closed, missionaries’ supplies are wrapped carefully for their 50 foot jungle airdrop.
Open Hearts: Tati, an elderly Patpatar man wants to hear the truth of God’s Word before it’s too late. Old Testament Bible stories are preparing Tati to understand about Jesus’ death and resurrection, which will be taught around Easter-time.
Baptism: After his public declaration of faith, Saliu’s wife’s family took his wife away. Pray for the Tanda believers in Africa.
Literacy: Lesson primers for reading and writing are being printed for the Kuna people, so they can learn to read God’s Word.
Bible translation: Missionaries are revising the book of Exodus in the Chimane language.
Developing Leaders: Two Bena Bena men stepped up to assist Heta, the main Bena Bena teacher in that village.

God is building his church. Thank-you for your support and prayers as we labor together to see mature churches established among unreached people groups.

New Year’s Eve Update

Posted by Regina Sullivan in Ministry on Dec 31st, 2011 | Discuss This Post

I am actually drafting this letter with a pen and paper since my laptop decided to take its own little vacation.  Prayerfully it will be fixed this week.

How are you doing?  This has been a good fall.  My short script screenwriting class covered many useful topics such as research; story structures; and documentary, narrative dramatic and experimental script styles.  I’m thankful that I was able to participate this semester.  Please pray that I”ll have wisdom what to get involved in or serve in this quarter now that my class is completed.

Communications Projects
At work, we dug into the archive and edited the video Each Stick Had A Name.   Soon we’ll be done with a couple short videos for New Tribes Bible Institute too.  I’ve been getting homepage images ready for 2012.  Three videos we made this year, Siawi Bible Translation, Footsteps, and Jason’s Prayer have been dubbed into Spanish.  Now they’ve been translated into French and I’ll be working on subtitles for the videos this quarter.

Finishing
It was encouraging to interview Bob and Noby Kennel and see how God is giving the Malaumanda people hope and growth through His Word.  He’s brought together a team of three couples to complete the church plant in that tribe.  It’s so exciting to see the discipleship that is taking place and hear how God is changing marriages and transforming lives.

A New Office Building
Maybe you’ve heard that New Tribes Mission home office is moving to a new building.  There are many benefits to this move, yet the new building only has office space.  Many missionaries, including myself, are living in low-cost housing at the mission.  We will need to find a new place to live in the next 1-2 years.  It will take some time to prepare the new building, move the offices, and sell our building.

Ideas for Housing
All ideas are on the table for a new place to live, and I’m sure God has a plan in place for me.  I’d love to have a roommate and live in Lake Mary/Sanford area near I-4, between my church and work.  Most of my single friends prefer having their own space; alternatively, a 1 bedroom apartment is about $900/month.  I would need to increase my support by about $700/month to cover costs for a one  bedroom apartment.  Purchasing a home seems like it would be too expensive to own and maintain.  Another option is finding a mother-in-law suite.  However, I am trusting God to provide housing, funds and roommates as needed in His timing.  I will look at more specific options in earnest once I have a move-out date.

My prayer for this next year is that God would increase my faith, my love for Him and my joy in Him.  I pray that you will too will be blessed richly with His presense this year, as He is always with us.  Thanks for your prayers and partnership in establishing mature churches and sharing the Gospel to the ends of the earth!
