Janelle is having Surgery August 8

Posted by Phil and Janelle on Sunday, July 22nd, 2012

Janelle is having surgery August 8!

Despite her operation in Singapore 2 ½ years ago, Janelle has not been completely helped. There were 2 issues that needed to be dealt with: one a prolapsed bladder and the other a prolapsed uterus. The first issue was dealt with somewhat successfully, but the prolapsed uterus was not taken care of. This has caused some major discomfort and has become a health issue that can no longer be ignored.

For the past several months Janelle has gone through many tests to determine what should be done, and surgery was recommended. There will be a 12 week recovery time which will limit her to light work.

How can you help?

Continue to pray for us as we go through this time of medical issues.

If you are a woman, and desire to encourage and receive more details than what we desire to share publically,

  • Click here: janelle_sutton@ntm.org and Janelle will send you more information on how to pray specifically for her situation.
  • Click here: Donate to make a donation to help cover the extra costs of tests and surgery.

Thank you, in advance, for coming alongside us in this critical time. We so appreciate each of you who have stood with us through our many years of ministry.

Phil’s Ministry

It has been such an encouraging time for the past couple of months working with people who are wanting to follow the Lord’s leading to get cross-cultural training. I have been working with 50 plus people who have committed their lives to reaching the unreached. They will be leaving their homes and family to start a journey that will take them to places where missionaries are desperately needed to fill in gaps to see more people come to Christ. Pray for them as they make the transition.

 Janelle’s Ministry

Janelle continues to work with Member Services which involves keeping a data base system updated with current information. Each missionary has a file where prayer letters can be stored so that NTM’s representatives can use this information to be better informed about the missionaries they serve. Janelle loads all this information into the computer and informs the correct departments about vital changes in ministry, new babies and ministry changes.

Ministry Partner’s Needed

Since coming home from Papua New Guinea we have seen the effects a ministry change has had on our financial support level. (Our current support level is 55% of our recommended support) We have those that have and continue to faithfully give to our ministry. We thank God for those that stand behind us. Our prayers are for adding ministry partners that would be willing to pray and financially give to us as we minister in the personnel department as the Candidate Coach and serving in Member Services. If you are led to do this, we can send additional information to you on what is involved in becoming a ministry partner with us.

“What is the Missionary Training Center?”

The Missionary Training Center prepares you for career ministry with New Tribes Mission. Think about it: If you were given the opportunity today to plant a church in an unreached tribe, would you know where to start? Missionary training teaches you about the complex concepts involved in tribal church planting, such as understanding culture and learning language, so you can effectively communicate cross-culturally. We’re also vitally concerned about your walk with God, so that in an isolated, high-pressure environment, your relationship with God can survive and even thrive.

2012 May – Grandparents for the First Time

We got a chance to visit Brock & Heidi just after our first grandson was born. Ryley Josiah Sutton, (6 pound 12.3 oz. and 19 inches long), was born April 7, 2012. We arrived the day of his birth and immediately went to the hospital. It was so fun to pick up this small bundle of joy.

Later in the week he was introduced to Penny. It was fun seeing the dogs’ reaction. While in Chattanooga, I got a chance to build some shelves for Brock’s Lego business. (A belated Christmas & birthday present.) We were able to spend a few days with them and then returned to Florida by Saturday.

Brock & Heidi & Ryley are doing fine. They are adjusting to a change in schedule and having someone with a good set of lungs let them know he is hungry. Although they are working on getting that schedule set so feeding time works out best for a tired mom.

2011 June Update

A Journey Begins… 2011 June Update Phil and Janelle Sutton

Our transition from the field of PNG to USA Headquarters is complete. It has taken us from spending time with our prayer and financial supporters to starting our new ministries. We have enjoyed the time we have had with people while on our “Home Assignment”. Each morning you can find us getting on our bicycles heading on our journey to the mission. It is really nice to be close enough to ride the ¾ of mile to the mission. It’s good exercise too!

Bicycles to Work

Phil - Both Janelle and I have been in the office for two weeks now. I am working with the candidate office being trained as a “Candidate Coach”. I always wanted to be a coach. I never thought that I would be coaching people in the process of becoming missionaries in a cross-cultural setting. Coaching involves giving advice for a candidate to connect with their home church. We see the local church being a vital part in sending these missionaries around the world. I get a chance to interact with many pastors who have a heart to see a member of their church being involved with reaching the unreached around the world. Pray for Harold as he tries to press his 12 years of experience as the Candidate Administrator into my brain.

Janelle - Janelle has been learning how to update the personnel data base from Becky. It is important to keep records up to date so that our member care and representatives can see the latest prayer requests of our missionaries. Their prayer letters also reveal information on new members of the family born, changes in ministry, marriages, etc… Janelle then gathers that information and often verifies with the missionary that a change is needed. Pray for Janelle as she continues to be taught new responsibilities.

PFO – In the next couple of weeks there will be 17 new candidates going through training prior to going to the field as associate missionaries. The candidates come from over all the USA to Sanford NTM USA headquarters for Pre Field Orientation. They will be exposed to how to better adjust to cross cultural situations. Over the next several weeks they will start a journey to the field. Pray for them as many of them are leaving family and friends for the first time.  Pray that they have a core group of people and churches to hold them up in prayer for their 1-4 year assignment overseas.

Financial Update – We thank everyone who keeps giving to our ministry. We could not function without those financial gifts. We continue to trust God to see more people who can financially partner with us as we do our ministry here in Sanford Florida. We are not given a salary like a normal business, but totally rely on financial partners to meet our daily needs.

Yours in reaching the unreached around the world,

Phil and Janelle Sutton
