Ministry – What’s Happening Here in Florida in January?

Posted by Phil and Jackie on Monday, January 2nd, 2012

We are gearing up for an influx of volunteers here at NTM U.S. home office.  They work in various departments doing whatever is needed and are a real blessing .

As we look into the new year, we remember why we are doing what we do.  We desire that every tribe, in every country, hear the good news that Jesus saves.  God is working around the world.  Tribal languages are being learned, Bibles are being translated, lessons are being taught, and the Holy Spirit is taking the Word of God and convicting the hearts of tribal people and they are being saved! Last year every 45 days another tribe was hearing the Gospel for the very first time.  Pray that our efforts will be in line with His plan and will accomplish what He desires. This is God’s work and we are happy to have a very small part in it.  We trust that you feel the same!

Our daughter, Heather, is in Colorado learning to fly.  She is under a lot of stress as she needs to pass this 4 week period or she will not be able to continue with her pilot training.  Please pray  for widsom and peace for her to accept God’s best for herCody, continues doing well with his aviation mechanics classes in Jacksonville.  He will be home next weekend to visit for his 22nd birthday.  He is involved in helping with the youth in a local church. Sept./Oct., 2010

Dear Friends,

image003We send you warm greetings from Florida, once again.  We are enjoying the weather here for the time being.  Our highs are in the mid eighties and our lows in the low sixties, and the humidity has dropped way down.  It’s great!  It is supposed to stay nice like this through Friday, so we shall see which way it goes after that.

We went to our mission’s beach retreat last weekend.  It was a good time for all who attended, with a pizza night and an ice cream social the next.  However, it ended with sadness. (more…)

March, 2010 News from the Burns

Posted by Phil and Jackie on Monday, April 5th, 2010

Well, our news for this newsletter is: our grandbaby is here!!  What else is there to talk about, right?  We don’t like to brag or anything but I think you’ll agree he is about the cutest little kid you’ve ever seen!  We are glad to have Jason & Tiffany here, too, of course, but they aren’t nearly as much fun as Jaxon!  We’ve been to the park, fed the ducks and even the alligators, played at Chuckie Cheese, went on a canoe trip down a scenic Florida river, and tomorrow we are headed for the beach.  The weather has been beautiful – mostly in the 70s & 80s, so we are thankful for that!  The only bad news is that they leave this Saturday!

February, 2010 Update

Posted by Phil and Jackie on Monday, April 5th, 2010

Late February News from the Burns:

Greetings from Florida.  It has been so cold this year with temperatures below normal.  We are still having lows in the thirties.  Our snowbirds have to remember that, yes, this is cold for Florida, but it is still a lot warmer than where they come from.

It has been great having our volunteers here again this winter.  The time has gone quickly and in a month all will be headed north, usually around the first of April.  I was pleased that Doc Wally was able to be here again.  He is 88 years old, but was stronger this year than last.  I had a lot of wood ready for him and he has already turned most of it into beautiful cabinets.  The kitchen we are working on right now is that of our main tax man and his wife.  Brain and his crew are very busy this time of year filling out 1040 forms and filing them for many of our missionaries, both here and abroad.  You can imagine what a blessing this service is to our tribal missionaries who already have much to trust the Lord for withoutcody ntbi grad may 09 #9 cody with mom & dad-1 480 mp having the IRS being another worry.

Thank you for all of your prayers while Phil was sick.  He spent five days in the hospital, and at last the chills stopped. He had a serious infection that went to the blood.  He just completed two weeks of antibiotic and is again at work, full time.  God is good! (more…)

Happy New Year from the Burns

Happy New Year FROM THE BURNS FAMILY!

We hope this Christmas season hasn’t been one frustration after another for you but, instead, a time for you and your family to reflect on the love of God in sending His Son, Jesus as the Perfect Christmas Gift!  If you are like us, you have had one party after another: school parties, school staff parties, 2 office parties, Sunday School parties, Awana party, and New Tribes Mission staff party.  I think we are about partied out!  Definitely too much food and too many parties!  Because of the economic situation we have tried to scale back on the gift buying so the shopping part has been much less stressful this year.  Also, hope you don’t mind but instead of sending Christmas Cards we decided to send as many greetings as possible by email to save a little more!
