It is hot in Florida!! It is hard to believe that the 4th of July is almost here already. Hope you all enjoy the weekend. We will probably sit behind the mission on Lake Monroe and have a front seat to watching the Sanford fireworks for the 4th celebration. (more…)

March Update from the BURNS
Posted by Phil and Jackie on Sunday, March 22nd, 2009March 30, 2009
Greetings from Sanford. Winter is gone and our temperatures are already hitting 90 degrees. I am always sorry to feel spring bullied out of the way by hot humid summer. It is always sad, too, to watch our snowbird volunteers head north one by one. (more…)
Jan., 2009 News and Prayer letter
Posted by Phil and Jackie on Sunday, February 1st, 2009Greetings from cold Florida. Our temperature was down in the 30s last night, but it has warmed up some since. Our house is still cold and my fingers are a bit slow in typing this letter. Guess all those years in the jungle really thinned my blood and cold weather is harder for this Montana boy to endure. Burns December, 2008 Prayer letter
Posted by Phil and Jackie on Saturday, January 17th, 2009Many of you may be enjoying the snow and cold already – or maybe you are just enduring it. Here in Florida we have had a few cool days but nothing really bad. Right now it is in the 80’s so doesn’t feel a lot like Christmas time! We are use to this kind of weather after living in the jungle for so long – we always had a hot Christmas. (more…)
October, 2008 Newsletter
Posted by Phil and Jackie on Monday, November 10th, 2008Hello. We just wanted to say thanks for your interest in our lives and work. We appreciate your prayers for us and support for our ministry here at New Tribes Mission’s USA headquarters.
We have been busy and have done a lot of traveling, recently. As you probably know, my Father (Phil’s) was promoted to glory last month. We are thankful for his Godly life, and though we miss him, we are pleased that he is now free from his sickness and bed and enjoying the pleasures of His Lord. (more…)
Hisacanes, Hurricanes and Tropical Storms – trying to keep dry! Aug.,2008
Posted by Phil and Jackie on Friday, August 29th, 2008Tropical Storm Fay left lots of rain and water all over the streets in parts of Sanford and surrounding cities. We personally had no damage at our home and the water has stayed at bay for which we are very thankful.
The street behind our mission, however, is under water. Lake
Monroe, which is part of the St. John’s River, has overflowed its banks and the road has been closed. We are told that this weekend the river should rise more. Many people’s homes are flooded. Several days we had to find alternate routes to work as many of the streets between our home and the mission were flooded. Her first week back at school Haley was overjoyed to have 3 days off because of the storm!! (more…)
Burns June, 2008 Update
Posted by Phil and Jackie on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008HOT! That’s pretty normal for Florida but even Colorado was hot when Heather and I visited in June (see our previous news article).
School is out for the kids (except Heather is taking a literature course online), I don’t have a class to teach, and Awanas is ‘on hold’ for the summer but ….life goes on in the tribes, as well as here at NTM U.S. Headquarters. (more…)
Grandbaby or Bust! (June, 2008)
Posted by Phil and Jackie on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008Heather and I decided to take a trip to Grand Junction, Colorado – almost the other side of the world from Florida!! We went to see the cutest little baby you’ve ever seen – my grandbaby, Jaxon! He was 6 months old which was a good time to see him a little more ‘grown up’.
He has lots of dark hair and dark brown eyes – got that from his mom, and a cute little smile. We had a great time spoiling him and, of course, took lots of pictures which you can see if you go to our photo page. If you really want to see more, (I don’t blame you, I would, too) just write and I can email you LOTS more!
