Going to Visit Heather later in January

Posted by Phil and Jackie on Monday, January 2nd, 2012

Heather has invited us to her graduation from the T6 trainer aircraft on the 18th of January.  She has two more test flights to complete but feels confident that she will make it.  We plan to go and will visit a supporting church and some of Jackie’s relatives along the way.

Return From Summer Trip Aug. 18,2011

Posted by Phil and Jackie on Monday, December 26th, 2011

We arrived safely back on Friday night two weeks ago.  We had a good trip with no car problems and we made all our scheduled stops on time.  It was so good to see many of our supporters and family along the way and to touch base with our supporting churches.  We traveled over 8,000 miles. Soon you can check out our webpage for trip pictures.

teaching

Just wanted to send a short note to let you guys know what our plans are.  We are rushing around trying to get things done so we can leave Florida this Saturday, June 25th.    I am helping with VBS this week and trying to finish up last minute things that need to be done before our trip out west. This time Haley will be the only one of our children traveling with us – it will seem strange not to travel looking like the Beverly Hillbillies! (more…)

June News from Us Burns

Posted by Phil and Jackie on Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

It’s already the end of June and we are already wondering where the summer has gone!  I am sure you agree that time just flies by too quickly!

Phil is keeping busy in the carpenter shop making window trim for some of the mission apartments.  He built some kitchen cabinets on the side for an acquaintance and hopes to make another set in a couple of months – these extra jobs always help out with monthly expenses!P6259759

Of course, Jackie is out of school now but still works some in the NTM office.  She recently spent a few weeks helping with the U.S. census but that work is over now. She, also,  just finished helping with Vacation Bible School aP6239738t our church.  We had a fun week with about 50-60 kids.  Jackie helped teach the Bible lessons to all the different age groups who rotated through the Bible class.  We had a Montana cowboy theme, so that was a lot of fun!  There were several unchurched kids attending so we pray that they will trust Christ if they didn’t during their time in VBS. Our Colorado Visit to See Our Grandson – October, 2009

Posted by Phil and Jackie on Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

We feel so blessed that an anonymous person offered to give us their air miles so we could fly out and see our grandson, Jaxon.  Well, here we are in Colorado having a great time with Jaxon (with Jason and Tiffany, too) and of course taking lots of pictures.  Just thought we’d share a few videos with you and you can check out a few of the pictures in our photo section, also.  We will be back home in Florida after November 2.

Haley’s in South Carolina!

Posted by Phil and Jackie on Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Haley with bunny. 2009 Please pray for Haley this week as she left Saturday morning for South Carolina with about 19 other kids and 7 adults from our church.  They have joined a group of about 400 from various churches as a part of World Changers.  These kids will be doing various types of construction to help needy families with home improvement projects.  Please pray for their safety and that they will have many opportunities to witness for the Lord.  We hope their lives will be changed as well as the lives of those they serve.

Heather is “jumping” for joy!

Posted by Phil and Jackie on Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Heather - taking a break from studying - March, 2008 Heather is pleased that she has already made two free fall jumps during her training in Colorado.  She was afraid she would be sent home early if she didn’t do it right but so far she is still there.  They had bad weather the first two days they were to jump but it cleared up Friday and they were able to jump twice.  She will jump again tomorrow (Monday, June 15).  She hasn’t done it perfectly but hopefully is improving.  They get five jumps all together.  Please pray for her safety, though I’m sure she’s having a blast – I worry a little about my little girl jumping out of airplanes!!

The Colorado cowboys! June 2008

Heather and I decided to take a trip to Grand Junction, Colorado – almost the other side of the world from Florida!!  We went to see the cutest little baby you’ve ever seen – my grandbaby, Jaxon!  He was 6 months old which was a good time to see him a little more ‘grown up’.

He has lots of dark hair and dark brown eyes – got that from his mom, and a cute little smile.  We had a great time spoiling him and, of course, took lots of pictures which you can see if you go to our photo page.  If you really want to see more, (I don’t blame you, I would, too) just write and I can email you LOTS more!
