About
New Light in Papua New Guinea
Though we serve as educators for the missionary children, our main purpose for being in Papua New Guinea is to allow the Light of the gospel to be shared in those places where it has seldom been shared. Here are the words of Mpumbar, a man who recently heard the gospel in his tribe.
“I have been in my garden looking around me and thinking how good God is. I am so glad about this new contract that God has made. The first contract he made with us, nobody has been able to keep. We have all missed God’s mark for going to heaven on our own. His new contract is so good. He sent us his own Son and Jesus willingly died for my sin and he paid my sin debt for me. I couldn’t do it, but He did.
He took big pain for me and he died so I wouldn’t have to. I am so happy about that. Now, the hard work is finished. He said it was all done and now we can just say “Thank you” and know that he will deliver us from our sin and take us to heaven because we have heard his talk and we are “hanging on God”. It is so good you all have come with God’s talk. We were so messed up before with all the things we believed and we worshiped the spirits. Now we can see that that was wrong and we are so happy to know about Jesus.”
In Mpumbar’s life, a new Light has dawned and new life has begun. That is what we are all about!
Numonohi Christian Academy
Patrick serves at Numonohi Christian Academy (NCA). NCA provides K-12 education for children of New Tribes missionaries as well as several other mission organizations serving in Papua New Guinea. It also provides a boarding program for New Tribes students in grades 7-12 whose parents serve in bush locations. Patrick serves as a mathematics teacher and has also provided leadership as the elementary principal.
Families in bush locations with children in grades K-6 homeschool their children. Dawn serves as a home school consultant to these families, providing information and access to resources and helping with educational questions that develop. Dawn has also provided educational therapy to students with learning needs when her schedule permitted.
Our prayer is to be used by God to share His light in this place, to allow His life to be experienced by many more people. We are glad to be a part of the team works to that end.
