We wanted to share some REALLY good news with all of you. Do you remember the family, Noe and Lisa Martinez and their two daughters, that was staying with Aimee during December and January until we returned from our home assignment? They were here doing bush orientation and completing their study in the national language of Papua New Guinea – Melanesian Pidgin. They stayed until early February so we could all meet them and spend some time together asking questions and getting to know each other. Then they left to pray and make a decision about if the Lord would have them join the Tigak (“tee-gahk”) work permanently. We patiently waited for their phone call and were thrilled when they did call and confirmed they wanted to join the Tigak team. They plan to move to the tribe towards the end of April.
Our family and Aimee have still been working through the grieving process of losing the Carlton family. We are enjoying keeping in touch with Tom and Beth and hearing how the Lord is using them in Mexico with New Tribes Mission. We know the Lord has a plan in all the changes but it hasn’t been easy. We are thankful the Lord chose to give us new co-workers faster than we would have dreamed!
The Creation to Christ teaching is going four days a week. It is exciting to see the young men who are faithfully attending and soaking it all in. Noe has really clicked with a lot of the young guys and it is great to see how he is going to be able to reach and disciple more Tigak guys. This is probably our biggest need in the Tigak church (and churches around the world) – more godly men willing and able to lead the church.
Ned is continuing on with translating the book of Hebrews and preparing for upcoming translation checks for other language groups.
This morning Ned let me know that one of the corner posts under our house had “fallen over”. Christina’s little friends had found it and propped it back up under the house. 🙂 So encouraging! We just hope this house will stand long enough for Ned to complete translating the Tigak New Testament. 🙂
