“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

Wayumi

In the Amazon rain forest lives a group of people who are called the Yanomamo.  They have a tradition in their culture to leave their village for a specific period of time, to go to a specific location, for a specific purpose.  They call this tradition, “Wayumi,” pronounced “why-you-me”.

Partnership Development Update

Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen in Ministry, Prayer Request on Aug 4th, 2010 | Discuss This Post |   Share

This summer, when we were not running the camp at Wayumi, we were busy working on our partnership development.  Before we left for the summer, we attended a training workshop by NTM to help guide us into expanding our partnership team.  NTM has set a goal for us to reach 100% of our recommended support in the next 3 years. Our plan is to share our vision for ministry with individuals and churches and invite them to partner with us by praying for us, supporting us financially, encouraging us, or even going with us!  This is not an easy task for us to undertake, but one that we are learning to trust God with more and more and see Him provide for us through the body of Christ.

May 10 Nathan in classOften in life, I find myself in situations for which I am completely unprepared for and wishing someone had told me, “You are going to encounter *this* in the near future and here is how you should respond.” Even worse is when someone does say what is coming up – and wishes you “Good Luck!” Great – thanks for nuthin’.

Such was the case when we began our journey of support raising many moons ago.

Birthday Party

Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen in Family on Apr 28th, 2010 | Discuss This Post |   Share

party goersTo celebrate Leighanna’s 8th birthday she had some friends and family over for a Musical Party.  They all did a craft, ate a cake in the shape of a CD, played freeze dance (great way to wear off the sugar from the cake and ice cream!), and impromptu hide and go seek.  With 10 girls swarming the house there was a lot of giggling and chatting.  Fun was had by all, even Nathan and I.

It has been a dream of ours to do something BIG for our 10th anniversary for the last couple of years. When Nathan’s brother was stationed in Hawaii last year we decided Hawaii would be our goal destination for 2010.  A HUGE blessing from the Lord was that one of our supporters volunteered to pay for our tickets. Because of this we were able to do so many neat things.

All bundled up

All bundled up

Finally in January we got lots of snow. We took the opportunity to PLAY in it by going sledding. To make it even more fun we invited a girl from our youth group and Nathan’s sister’s family. Afterwards Nathan’s mom had a stew waiting for us. We gobbled it right up because everyone knows that sledding is hard work =)

Edited family PicFor the months of October and November, Nathan was not in the business office.  The Bible School gave him some time off to build relationships in our area in order to increase our support.  It was a profitable and enjoyable time.  The Lord provided us with many opportunities to connect with people and make connections.
