Our forgetfulness…God’s faithfulness
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Monday, May 26th, 2008What would you do if you left the suitcase packed with all your children’s clothes at home? Well, we didn’t quite leave it at home. We had some help not bringing it with us to Cincinnati.
We had some student friends living with us last week while they were packing all their belongings and cleaning their apartment. On Saturday morning we were both getting ready to leave and had suitcases all over the first floor of our house. In the hurried pace of the morning they ended up taking our kids suitcase with them to Missouri! (more…)

Working together
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Saturday, September 29th, 2007It is comforting to know that you don’t have to do it all yourself. There are people God allows in our lives to help us in areas that we are weak or just need a hand in. On Friday, NTBI President, Rex Gutwein and I, along with our wives, met with Dr. Felix Aguilar and 32 of his students at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.
The objective of this meeting was to present the ministry of NTM as well as give an initial look into the issue we are facing with our current student records program(s). (more…)
Lots of Hats
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Saturday, May 12th, 2007As missionaries we realize that a job description will never fully contain all that we do. Check out some of the “Hats” that I’ve been wearing lately.
In addition to business management, one of the tasks that I have assumed is in our local Information Technology Department. (more…)
Showers and Meals
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Wednesday, April 18th, 2007A phrase commonly heard in the hall of New Tribes Bible Institute is “Don’t drink the water” …because you might get pregnant. Every semester there are a myriad of baby showers to go to. Then once the baby is born we like to help out the family by providing meals for the first week or two.
I have had the priviledge to help plan three baby showers this last year.
Although I am not a very creative person in my weakness the Lord has been strong. With His strength and other’s wonderful help we have had a relaxed and fun time at each one. It is my desire that through each of the showers that the pregnant ladies will feel loved and cared for.
Any of us that have had babies know how much our support system means to us. Many of these ladies are away from their families and home church. One of the things I have been able to be a part of here is providing meals for new moms.
Ministry through Games
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Tuesday, March 27th, 2007One of our main avenues of ministry in the evenings with the students is playing games.
How do you minister to people through game playing you might ask? When people are relaxed and of course full with snacks they are more willing to open up. It keeps our hands busy while we get to know them. Essentially it opens the door (literally) for us to have a voice in their life.
The goal is to use the game as a platform. From there we are able to encourage them in their Christian walk and challenge them with the ministry. Through this strategy, we have been able to form many strong relationships.
Nathan and Rachel Allen “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
