A phrase commonly heard in the hall of New Tribes Bible Institute is “Don’t drink the water” …because you might get pregnant.  Every semester there are a myriad of baby showers to go to.  Then once the baby is born we like to help out the family by providing meals for the first week or two.

 I have had the priviledge to help plan three baby showers this last year.

  Although I am not a very creative person in my weakness the Lord has been strong.  With His strength and other’s wonderful help we have had a relaxed and fun time at each one.  It is my desire that through each of the showers that the pregnant ladies will feel loved and cared for.

  Any of us that have had babies know how much our support system means to us.  Many of these ladies are away from their families and home church.  One of the things I have been able to be a part of here is providing meals for new moms.

One of our main avenues of ministry in the evenings with the students is playing games.

How do you minister to people through game playing you might ask?  When people are relaxed and of course full with snacks they are more willing to open up.  It keeps our hands busy while we get to know them. Essentially it opens the door (literally) for us to have a voice in their life.

The goal is to use the game as a platform.  From there we are able to encourage them in their Christian walk and challenge them with the ministry.  Through this strategy, we have been able to form many strong relationships.

Graduation on Friday, May 19th ended what seemed to be a very short semester.

We had a total of 59 graduates who have spent two years of their life studying the Bible in-depth.  This study has prepared many of them for their life ahead.  Some will go on to become missionaries with New Tribes Mission.

Others will go on to become pastors, teachers,  and active members in their churches.  But no matter what they do, they will go with the knowledge and ability to have a thriving walk with God.

It is such a privilege to be a part of a staff that is equipping a new generation of disciples who will go on to equip a new generation of disciples.

If I could have taken you anywhere with me this past year, it would have been to the current Senior’s class weekend retreat.  It is Sunday night after Senior retreat.  I am sore from a ton of running around but my heart is full from this wonderful weekend with the current Senior Class.

It is a tradition every semester for the senior class to go on a weekend retreat for a time of relaxation and reflection.  This class of 58 students came together to share what God has been teaching them through their in-depth 2 years of Bible study.  For 3 and 1/2 hours we listened to testimony after testimony of how God has taught, stretched, and changed the hearts and lives of these students.

Many expressed the interest to be a part of reaching tribal groups with the Gospel, the reason why NTM exists.  It is wonderful to have a part in this tremendous ministry!

This is a question that I hear on a daily basis working in the business office. Of course the students and staff that we work with don’t mean me personally. They are usually referring to making a payment on their account.

On average, for a single student, it costs appoximately $3500 per semester for an excellent Bible education. That’s hard to beat. But our goal is not only to educate future generations about the Bible, but we desire to disciple and train them to be able to disciple and train others no matter where they end up – at their local church or overseas in a tribal location.
