Well we have made it back from Wayumi and are in the full swing of things here. Since our last update we have moved back to our home in Jackson, MI from our summer ministry in Central Pennsylvania. We took a 6 day vacation to the U.P of Michigan – the only thing we do all year that is just for our family! Students have arrived back here to NTBI, registered, and finished their first week of classes. It’s been a busy month to say the least. (more…)

NTBI August Update
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Monday, August 29th, 2011Wayumi Summer Update – July
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Monday, July 18th, 2011It’s amazing how fast the second half of the summer is going! We had a very busy week off during the 4th of July week with close friends and family visiting all week. Our best friends, Wes & Jodi, from Michigan stopped by overnight on their way out to Maine and then stayed with us for a few days on their return trip to Michigan. Jason and Laken Cizdziel spent the holiday weekend with us. Rachel’s brother and sister-in-law and family spent about 24 hours with us on their way home from Massachusetts. A very busy time indeed. It took us a little bit to recover, but I was well rested when it came time for camp to start for our third week.
This group was from Denver, Colorado 14 in all. They traveled 30+ hours in two days to get here. This group is from a supporting church of one of our co-workers – Greg and Hannah Lilley. So their oldest two boys, Luke and Levi, joined the group for the week and slept in the hammocks in jungle camp with them. What a committed group of teens and leaders! We had a great time with this group and we are looking forward to their future decisions about serving God.
As our time here is drawing to a close, we have booked just about everyday with friends to see. Including a trip to an Amish farm where one of our current students at the Bible School, John Beiler, grew up. A trip to Washington D.C. for the first time in our lives, with the kiddos! We are going to be staying with Jason and Laken. One of the interns, Josiah, is coming with us. We will be getting back on Sunday, the day that our next group arrives.
Pray for us as we travel and that our times of visiting with friends will be fruitful!
Thanks for reading our update!
Birthday Party
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Wednesday, April 28th, 2010
To celebrate Leighanna’s 8th birthday she had some friends and family over for a Musical Party. They all did a craft, ate a cake in the shape of a CD, played freeze dance (great way to wear off the sugar from the cake and ice cream!), and impromptu hide and go seek. With 10 girls swarming the house there was a lot of giggling and chatting. Fun was had by all, even Nathan and I.
Celebrate 10 years
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Monday, February 22nd, 2010It has been a dream of ours to do something BIG for our 10th anniversary for the last couple of years. When Nathan’s brother was stationed in Hawaii last year we decided Hawaii would be our goal destination for 2010. A HUGE blessing from the Lord was that one of our supporters volunteered to pay for our tickets. Because of this we were able to do so many neat things. (more…)
Bunches of Snow = Lots of fun
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Saturday, January 9th, 2010Finally in January we got lots of snow. We took the opportunity to PLAY in it by going sledding. To make it even more fun we invited a girl from our youth group and Nathan’s sister’s family. Afterwards Nathan’s mom had a stew waiting for us. We gobbled it right up because everyone knows that sledding is hard work =)
Busy Easter
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009All the details fell into place – administrate an Easter Egg Hunt, welcome family from out of town and 2 large family get togethers. Although we had a busy Easter weekend, it was very satisfying. (more…)
Special Visit
Posted by Nathan and Rachel Allen on Monday, February 23rd, 2009Do you have a best friend that lives far away from you? I have one that lives in Utah; her name is Patience. We only get to talk on the phone every couple of months, yet the fellowship is so sweet.
Since the beginning of this year I have been asking the Lord when I could go out and see her. I knew that this month worked best for her, but the Lord never gave me a peace. On February 12, I found out why He kept saying no.
For two weeks her and Nathan were planning a surprise 6 day visit. Executed to near perfection they managed to shock me completely. I was sitting in Midway’s departure area waiting for an airplane ride when Patience comes walking up. (more…)
