Nathan and Rachel Allen

“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

About

Leighanna, Nathan, Emily, Rachel, DanielleHow Nathan is Expanding the Reach…

My specific role in the Great Commission has been changing again this year!  From 2001 to 2006 I was primarily doing the bookkeeping at New Tribes Bible Institute (NTBI) in Jackson, MI. Then in the fall of 2006 I became the business manager in that same office.  The last four years has been a learning and growing experience for me.  This year I again find myself transitioning ministries out of the business office into our I.T. department.

In the I.T. department I primarily do software support for our staff and students.  If someone can’t figure out how to make their computer do what they want it to, they call me.  I thoroughly enjoy coming alongside my coworkers, helping them find a solution to their problem and speed their work along.

Also, last summer I was asked by Greg Sanford, director of mobilization for NTM, to be the program director for the brand new Senior High Youth Camp that has been opened in central Pennsylvania.  The name of the camp is called “Wayumi”. Wayumi is a tribal word that means to leave one’s village to go to a specific place, for a specific time, for a specific purpose.  It’s a week long adventure into tribal missions.  It exposes youth groups to the task of tribal church planting and helps them to see that this task is doable.  This particular ministry is one that seems to fit my God-given skills and abilities really well.  It has been a blast seeing the lives of teenagers changed drastically!

How Rachel is expanding the Reach…

Rachel continues to serve in her role as helper to me and mother to our 3 girls.  She also assists in the records department a couple of days a week by entering grades in the database. And new this semester she will be helping out one day a week in childcare.

But most of all we enjoy the discipleship ministry we have together with many students on a regular basis.  Every year we are blessed to have students who willingly desire to have their walk with God challenged.  They open their hearts and lives to us to look into and help them to see how their thinking may or may not line up with the Word of God.  This is another opportunity we have to see lives drastically changed to the glory of God!
