Trash Can Turkey

Our thanksgiving turkey was prepared a bit unconventionally.  Our friends Rob and Amy Ellis introduced us to cooking our turkey in a trash can.  This was a year of new traditions

I highly recommend cooking your turkey in a (new) trash can for several reasons.  #1 it frees up your oven.  #2 it only takes an hour and a half to cook even in the snowso tender and juicy it fell in half #3 (my favorite reason) the guys do the work and are responsible for how the turkey turns out!

Several of our group were skeptical of how it would turn out and they were pleasantly surprised.  Charcoal For full details on how to do this for yourself you will have to contact Nathan.  We plan on making this a tradition in our family for many years to come.

We always went to my grandma’s house for Thanksgiving with my extended family and their guests.   I have many fond memories of those precious times.  Each year it has gotten bigger, until we finally outgrew their house.  This gave us an opportunity to have  Thanksgiving dinner at our house with some students and Nathan’s parents.

Thanksgiving DinnerWe really enjoyed being able to provide a loud crazy family atmosphere for them to enjoy.  There were lots of  delicious new dishes to sample, cookies to decorate (thanks to Miranda) and plenty of smiles and full tummys.  We look forward to continuing this new tradition next year!
