Mike’s Update

Greetings Everyone, we pray this note finds you all enjoying this Christmas Season.  I just wanted to update you on the what has been happening with my health.  In June the treatment I was on for the cancer that was removed in March 2008 was ended and the Oncologist decided that I would only need to get  CT scan every year.  About 2 months ago they called and decided that they would like to do a CT scan every 6 months, so I went in for a scan.

That scan showed that there was a spot about 1.5 centimeters in the area that they removed the kidney last year.  My Oncologist wanted to get a biopsy which I had done last week.  The results came back and it is positive for the same kind of cancer that they removed last year.

Mati and I met with the Oncologist on Monday and we have schedule some other test that need to be done.  Next Tuesday, I go into get a PET CT scan and then on Wednesday I will go in for an MRI.  I will then meet with the surgeon (the same Dr. that did the kidney surgery) and schedule surgery to have that spot removed.  I will then be going on another Chemo and possibly localized radiation in that area.

It has been a time of processing in house.  This is obviously not what we expected.  We are praying for rest, both physical rest and rest in our Lord.  It has been difficult at times in the thought process and just letting the mind wonder.  I got a note from someone letting us know that they were praying for us to keep our thoughts in captivity.  That was a huge encouragement as that is what we were struggling with.  Keeping every thought in captivity looking to Christ in our moment by moment trust through this.

Thank you all for your prayers.   We will keep you posted on that next steps.

In His Care, Mike and Mati
