Helping Spread the Gospel in Papua New Guinea

About

As mentioned on our home page, we are again looking at serving overseas.  This time, in Papua New Guinea (PNG).  The need for support people is so great that new missionaries arriving on the field have to spend one year in a support role before entering a tribal work.   Plus, there is a "hold" by the field, on starting any new tribal works.  This means that the 200 or so tribes who have yet to hear the Gospel, some of who have asked for missionaries to come tell them about God’s talk, will have to wait.   But for how long.

So, this June we will be moving to Papua New Guinea. Our belongings left mid March and should get there this October.  Our our Work Permits were granted so we can apply for Visas to serve in PNG.  One more step to go.

Due to a critical shortage Mike will be teaching Grade 6,7,8 Math, 9/10 Algebra and possibly overseeing a Spanish class.   He will still try to meet some maintenance needs too.

It looks like Beth will be teaching grades 3 to 5.

Megan will be in 10th grade.

We have started to study Tok Pisin the trade language of PNG, taking advantage of the staff at NTBI Waukesha that have served in Papua New Guinea.

Mike was so encouraged by the testimonies of the PNG Nationals and the Missionaries about how the Gospel has been changing lives and freeing many from the bondage of Satan.

One Tribal person asked, why do you missionaries have so much (planes, houses, goods, food) and we have so little.  A good question that caused the missionary to think.  After a time, the tribal person came up with the answer.  Satan had kept them in darkness!
