Mike and Trisha Goddard Mobilizing local churches in Paraguay About
:: BIOGRAPHY ::
Mike and Trisha are both grew up in Christian families. Both of their parents worked with New Tribes Mission. Mike’s parents served in Paraguay for 43 years, and Trisha’s parents served in the USA for many years and in Papua New Guinea for 9 months. Mike and Trisha met each other at New Tribes Bible Institute and were married in 2001. Together, they finished the last two years of missionary training with New Tribes Mission and arrived in Paraguay to serve as missionaries in 2004.
With 2 small children and another on the way, they spent a good amount of time studying Spanish and the Paraguayan culture. The leadership of NTM Paraguay asked Mike to consider opening up the Mobilization Department – to help national Paraguayan churches to plant tribal churches among unreached people groups.
Mike has the responsibility of promoting tribal missions and mobilization of NTM Paraguay. This includes short term mission trips called ACERCATE, teach believers how to use Chronological Bible teaching as a evangelism tool, teach courses on cross-cultural missions, and work together with other mission organizations here in Paraguay.
Trisha, on top of being a wife and mother of 3 children, supports Mike in the ministry and oversees the Spanish Resource Department for NTM Paraguay. Another way that she serves is by daily posting the NTM prayer requests and other mission information on the NTM Paraguay Spanish website and Facebook for NTM Paraguay and Acercate a las tribus.
Mike and Trisha’s desire as a couple is to move to a tribal location and train tribal churches in Evangelism and Discipleship.
:: TIMELINE ::
2001: Married and began Missionary Training in PA.
2002: Moved from PA to begin Linguistics in MO.
2003 : Graduated from NTM training and moved to WV for Partnership Development.
2004: Moved to Paraguay and began Spanish Culture & Language Acquisition.
2005: Mike translated Spanish materials and began investigating Mobilization. Trisha in Spanish CLA.
2006: We opened the Mobilization Department for NTM Paraguay in Asuncion. Trisha finished Spanish CLA.
2007: Mobilization in Asuncion and 7 1/2 month Home Assignment in the USA.
2008: Mobilization in Asuncion.
2009: Mobilization in Asuncion.
2010: Mobilization in Asuncion and 4 month Home Assignment in the USA.
2011: Mobilization in Asuncion.
