Previously in the Lives of Michael and Nancy Dore…

Michael:

I was born in New Hampshire to Christian parents. One day when I was young, after a day of much disobedience and correction, I asked my Dad, “Why am I so bad?” He was able to use the opportunity to explain to me that we are all sinful and fall short of God’s perfect standard. He then told me about Jesus death as a sacrifice in our place and how we could now have a relationship with God. I believed that Jesus died for my sins and trusted Him for my salvation.

I have since grown in my walk with the Lord, learning more about what He did for me and the new life I now have in Him. My parents went into New Tribes Mission, and when I was eight we went over to Guinea, West Africa. It was amazing to see how God provided for our family in so many ways!

As I grew older, I considered what I would do with my life. I thought about the regular types of things kids do – policeman, pilot, etc., but I could not ignore the fact that God had allowed me to grow up on the mission field for a reason. I knew that I wanted to serve God in full-time ministry – nothing else seemed a worthwhile use of my life. As I saw the needs throughout the world, I realized that not many were ministering overseas or even knew of the need. Since I had had the privilege of knowing the needs, I could not ignore them.

So after I graduated high school, I enrolled at the NTM Bible School in Jackson. There I received a solid grounding in the Word of God. It was also a time where I saw God continuing to work in my life. I was able to see Him provide for me – faithfully and abundantly – just as He had done for my family. While I was there God brought Nancy into my life and led us to marriage!

Nancy:

I was born into a Christian family, my dad is a pastor. At a young age I realized my need for a Savior and believed on Christ’s redemptive work on the Cross. I had the opportunity while in High School to go on Two separate SUMMIT trips with NTM. One to Bolivia and the other to Brazil. While in Brazil I knew that God wanted me to go into overseas missions. After graduating I went to NTBI in Jackson, MI. It was there that I met Michael We were engaged in Oct. of 2003, married the following April.

The Continuing Story…

After graduating from NTBI in 2002, we went to Guinea for nine months to help out with some support ministries there. It was quite a growing experience for a young married couple! When we returned in 2004, we were able to spend two years getting involved in our home church – the church that Nancy’s father pastors in Michigan. This was a very beneficial time for Michael – missionary kids do not have many chances to be heavily involved in the local church!

In the fall of 2006, God provided for us to continue our training with New Tribes at the Mission Training Center in Missouri. We completed the training and joined NTM in the spring of 2008. Michael continued on with some additional linguistics training, and graduated from that in December 2008.

Since that time, we have been here in Michigan. Our focus is on getting over to the Region of West Africa as soon as God will let us – our burden for the people there and our desire to be there are as strong as ever! To that end, we are partnering with churches and individuals to whom God has given a desire to be part of the ministry He has called us to. We are looking for people to be involved through prayer support, financial support, and even support through encouragement! We also desire to spread a knowledge of missions, and to stir up a desire in people to be involved in whatever ways they can. If you want to be involved with our ministry, or just want to hear more about what God is doing around the world, let us know! We would be happy to share our passion with you!
