Earlier this month I wrote a blog about our motivation for missions. In it, I noted that we ought to have a deep compassion for this world, and that it is right that our hearts should break for the lost. We are convinced though, that our compassions and motivations need to be based in who God is:
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” – Rev. 4:11
Lately I have needed to remind myself not only of where my motivation needs to come from, but also my confidence. Stacy and I have a goal of being in West Africa by Jan. 2016. That’s just ten months away! We are confident that God has been faithfully leading us to church plant in West Africa. Yet when we look at all the transitions, planning, and partnership building ahead of us, the task can seem daunting! I was once told by a missionary that along the way there will be times when “looking for the exits” will seem like the most reasonable thing to do. There will always be an opportunity to give up, so then where is my confidence? Again, Revelation 4:11 gives me hope. If God created all things, and He is the one leading our family to another place in the world that He created and to other people that he created… why would my confidence lie anywhere else?
Would you please keep us in your prayers?
• Please pray that we would be able to raise both the financial and prayer partners needed to arrive in West Africa by 2016!
• Please pray for Stacy as she prepares for the next 3 YEARS of homeschooling.
• Please pray that we would all stay healthy. We have battled some sickness since arriving back in Wisconsin. As you know, that can make it hard to stay productive.
