How is Wisconsin like Africa?
I mean they look somewhat similar…
From your point of view they may very well be complete opposites. The temperatures, the culture, the food, the transportation, and just about everything else are very different. From my point of view, at least at the moment, I am seeing some similarities.
We recently finished all of our NTM training in Missouri, and just moved back to Wisconsin. I’m told that after a few months of moving to West Africa the “honeymoon phase” will end and we will be need to constantly remind ourselves of why we came and who it was that sent us.
Right now in Wisconsin, where I have already spent about 10 years of my life I am finding the need to remind myself of why I have come here, and who it was that sent me.
Now this is not a complaint letter, so don’t get me wrong. We are happy to once again be with our church families, and thrilled to be on path that God is laying before us. The path however is not without its challenges. The year that lies before us is one of transition and stretching as we work out all of the paperwork, fine details, and finish raising our support to leave for West Africa.
Another similarity? Here in Wisconsin I could tell you about how God is growing His witness through churches like Woodridge Community Church, and Waukesha City Church.
Just like in Wisconsin, God also desires to save individuals and grow faithful churches in West Africa. God is sending us out through our local churches, to expand the Gospel to those who have never heard it before.
That is why we are here, and it is God who has sent us. What a privilege you and I both have to be a part of a loving God’s redemptive plan!
