This is our family! Matt and Erin met at a very young age as both of our parents were missionaries in the Philippines. While our paths separated for about 10 years we re-met at New Tribes Bible Institute and were married the winter of 2005. God has brought into our lives so far Alaena and Logan and we’re so privileged to be their parents! Here’s a little more in depth of how we got to where we are today…
Matt: I came to know the Lord at a young age. My parents were tribal church planters in the Philippines for the first few years of their missionary career. I saw first hand how lost the people were and how their lives were full of fear, confusion and hopelessness. It was a difficult and sad thing to witness. After I graduated from high school I moved to the States. I began to live for myself and ignore God’s leading in my life. God pulled me out of this lifestyle and directed me to New Tribes Bible Institute. Here, under strong Biblical teaching and discipleship, combined with the impact of my childhood experiences God challenged my heart to become a part of overseas missions.
Erin: I too came to know the Lord at a young age. My parents were also missionaries and instilled in me a heart for the lost all around the world. I grew up seeing the importance for missions but as I got into high school I never saw myself as one to go long term! God changed the direction of my life though when He led me to New Tribes Bible Institute in the middle of my senior year of high school. It was here where Matt and I re-met and got married. I knew the Lord had me to be Matt’s wife and the Lord was directing Matt to missions so they sort of went hand in hand! Besides our relationship God used the time studying His word and seeing His heart for all to come to know Him. I knew there were people out there who had zero understanding of who God is and what He’s done for them and were going to a Christ-less eternity. I was burdened to be a part of bringing them the Gospel.
