Linda and I continue to work in the student mentoring program and really look forward to the time we have with our student group. We find that we are encouraged and energized through these times together and pray that, in some way we can be an encouragement to those that are in our group.

New IT Office

Marshall continues in the IT Department, with several projects happening in the next several months. Later this month, we will be moving into new offices. Our new offices will be out of the main administration building. We are also starting afternoon office hours (rather than all day availability) to resolve non-urgent day to day issues. We are finding that we need to have some blocks of time with minimal interruption to complete important projects. One of those projects is a new Intranet (private website) for the Training Center. Our Intranet is used to display MTC calendars, course information, homework assignment turn-in & return, MTC classifieds and much more. We are also looking to upgrade our internet connection. The rural location of the Training Center presents some challenges when it comes to getting high-speed internet at an affordable price.

Multi-Purpose Building

Construction continues on the multi-purpose building and we are working to finalize details on network infrastructure and design and building security. We would appreciate your prayers on these and other projects. We want to provide quality technology solutions and be good stewards of our resources, including people and finances.

Olivia's Emergency Room Bandage

Olivia has had an eventful year so far. She has a part time job, working several hours a week, helping a Mary Kay representative with her business and other things around the house. Several weeks ago, Olivia broke the little finger on her right hand at school when she opened the door for someone and found her finger caught between the handle and the wall. Ouch!  So, after a trip to the ER, some ibuprofen, x-rays and a splint, she was as good as new.  Well not quite…  Her broken finger interrupted driving lessons, made playing more than 7 notes on her clarinet impossible and got in the way of good penmanship.  She needs to wear the splint for another week and then keep her fingers taped for another 2 weeks.  Olivia is ready to get back to driving, playing all the notes on her clarinet and not having her hand wrapped in a ace bandage.

Pasta Alfredo at Olive Garden

In spite of her injury, we were still able to enjoy a day in Springfield for her birthday. Our day included a trip to Bass Pro to see the alligator, huge alligator gar and lots of other bass and trout swimming in their tanks. From there we went to one of her favorite restaurants, Olive Garden, to enjoy one of her favorite foods, Pasta Alfredo.  After a delicious meal, we enjoyed the movie “The Adventures of Tin Tin” at the $3 theatre. We all enjoyed just being together, thankful for God’s blessings and each other.

Please pray for the Patpatar people as they learn truths about God through foundational Bible teaching.  Pray for clear understanding and belief in the finished work of Christ as they hear the teaching, culminating in the Gospel presentation around Easter.

Thank You for your interest in our family!

Last month the theme was India and as always the food was very good.  We didn’t know anything about Indian food, so we had an opportunity to learn try something new.  We made Mulligatawney Soup.  It was very easy to make and was delicious.  You can find the recipe here.

This is our second year for our Iron Chef and here are some of the themes that we have done:  Apples, Carrots, Asian, Mexican, and German.  After enjoying the meal we take time to plan our next meal and share prayer requests.  This has been a great time for us to get to know more of the staff and students here at the training center and how we can pray for them more specifically.

Ok, so here is our first blog entry.  I know….not much to look at but I needed to get the first post done so I can put the anxiety of starting our blog, behind me.  

I work with computers and technology all day but … our website never got the attention that it needed to keep it up to date.  When I heard that the new websites were coming this fall, I told myself that once we had our new website, I would work harder to keep it updated.  In other words – this is where the rubber meets the road.

We will be adding new content in the weeks ahead and then adding more, on a (hopefully) regular basis.  So, take a look at what has been added and let us know what you think and what YOU would like to see!
