Our Family
We are Marshall, Linda and Olivia Campbell. We serve at the Missionary Training Center in Camdenton, Missouri. We are beginning our third year at the MTC and our 4th year with New Tribes Mission.
Before moving to Missouri, we lived in Halifax, Pennsylvania. Linda and I grew up in  Halifax and much of our family still lives in Central Pennsylvania. We graduated from Halifax High School and married 2 years later. At the time when we were married, I was studying electrical engineering at Penn State and working as a co-op (through Penn State) at a Nuclear Power Station in Central Virginia. The co-op program alternated semesters of study and work. So, we moved a lot over the next several years (6 times) until I graduated in December 1993.
In June 1993, we moved again, back to Halifax, and I began working for Verizon Communications (formerly Bell Atlantic) in their Network Integration company. I was working as a Field Engineer, installing Computer Network Equipment, including Routers, Switches, some Video Conferencing Equipment, Firewalls and eventually Voice over IP Systems.
Our daughter Olivia was born in 1996. Over the next several years the Lord grew our faith in Him and deepened our love for Him and His word. It was a time of significant spiritual growth in our lives. In 2005, we went with a work team from our church, David’s Community Bible Church, to the Missionary Training Center. Our team worked on some construction projects but God really worked in our hearts. God challenged us through a missionary student that shared with our group one evening. Linda and I were both challenged to consider what we could do for missions.
After that week, we returned home and I remember that I had lost the contentment that I had in my job. I loved my job. I enjoyed travelling, meeting and talking with customers and I enjoyed the daily challenges. But, after our week in Missouri, I believed that other people could do the work that I was doing, and God had put the desire in my heart to serve Him in missions. In fact, we were both challenged when we heard Lane Sanford talk about people groups that are asking for missionaries to come to them. Unfortunately, there are not enough missionaries to go to all of these groups. Today, more than 100 people groups have asked New Tribes Mission to send them a missionary. There are still not enough missionaries to go to these groups. We do not believe that the Lord was asking  us to be church planters, but we wanted to use the abilities He gave us so that church planters can keep planting churches.
So, here we are, at the Missionary Training Center. We are beginning our 3rd year on staff here, assisting in the training of missionaries. I am currently the director of IT (Information Technology), working with Grant Whidden. Yes, we are a department of 2. My responsibilities include maintaining the data network, including network security, the phone system, and installing and maintaining audio/visual equipment. We also have 5 students who work with us in the afternoons – they are a great help and we are thankful for each of them!
Linda teaches preschool in the childcare department. She teaches fourteen 3-5 year olds during the morning hours, while their parents are in classes. She loves teaching these little ones and they love her. She has much better stories about her day then I do about mine! She is also more tired at the end of her day – for sure!
We thank God every day for the opportunity that he has given us here at the Missionary Training Center – an opportunity to serve others in His name. We give Praise to God and the Lord Jesus Christ for His strength, mercy and grace, which enable us to serve here. Thank you for your prayers and support for our family!
God Bless You!
