If you have ever seen the television show Iron Chef, you know that it is filmed far from Missouri. But, a family at the MTC thought it would be fun to get together once in a while to fellowship and enjoy great food. Here’s the idea… On Iron Chef (the television show) 2 chefs meet for battle in ‘kitchen stadium’, preparing a 5 course meal for a panel of judges. We do a twist on that idea.  Once a month we get together for our Iron Chef night. Right now, we have 2 groups and each group has 10-12 people, some couples and some singles. Each group meets in the home of someone in the group and each couple makes one course of a themed dinner (singles pair up).
Last month the theme was India and as always the food was very good. We didn’t know anything about Indian food, so we had an opportunity to learn try something new. We made Mulligatawney Soup. It was very easy to make and was delicious. You can find the recipe here.
This is our second year for our Iron Chef and here are some of the themes that we have done: Apples, Carrots, Asian, Mexican, and German. After enjoying the meal we take time to plan our next meal and share prayer requests. This has been a great time for us to get to know more of the staff and students here at the training center and how we can pray for them more specifically.
Next Month’s Theme ….. Christmas from around the world.
