heavy rains caused a sunken area at the take off area of the airstrip. This caused the plane to bounce on take-off. Not something the pilot wants to happen! :)

A series of floods undermined the hydro dam which meant NO WATER was getting to the generators. It's been a month long job to repair it.

the thanksgiving service took place in the meeting house. After that we went to the long house to eat. It rained HARD during the meeting. You can see the flooded river we saw on our way to eat.

The Higaunon typically have a thanksgiving time but the direction of their thanks has changed from the deities they used to worship, to the One Who has provided so much for them.

February 10 - the plane wasn't available to pick us up so we hiked out of the village and took public transport to our guest house. It took 13 hours and 15 minutes whereas the plane takes 30 minutes!
