We’re home!

Us with Sona and Yanit saying "goodbye"
We’re home…
They say home is where the heart is and our hearts are where we are so I guess that means we are home!
We are grateful for our church here in Florida that has provided a wonderful place where we can live and work on the Old Testament translation for the Higaunon. We are also thankful for all of you who have been praying for us.
We did have some bumps on the way here… but that was all good.

The Higaunon ask for prayer…
Dear partners in ministry!
First of all, thank you all so much for praying for us. Many of you have shared with us that you pray daily. That is so humbling! Thanks also to all of you who give to us so we can do what we do.
There are a couple things we need you to pray for.
First some background on the first request:
Kabuhayon is the tribal word for “LIFE” and usually means “eternal life” – it’s something the spirits promised them in their old culture but of course were never able to give them.
Now however, they have found “Kabuhayon” through believing the good news of Jesus Christ and His finished work on Calvary.

Returns and Rejoicings…
Returns and Rejoicings
I had a wonderful time with Nicole, Olivia, Jacob and Owen. Being there with them for those weeks met the desires of my “mother’s and grandmother’s heart.” Thanks again for praying for us both, especially during the time I was away, through my sickness, and for my return to the Philippines.
Our son-in-law Justin returned from his trip to Asia before I left their home. He came back excited about the work that is going on and which they hope to join by early next year, the Lord willing. Justin & Nicole continue to do pre-field ministry and their support level is now at 72%! This is cause for rejoicing. Please join us in prayer for the remainder of their support, for the contacts and meetings to see more partners in their ministry. We rejoice in those who have already joined their “team.”

Reporting from two sides of the world REVISITED!
Please pray for Laura.
She was scheduled to return home to the Philippines earlier this week. However, last week she came down with the flu and developed pneumonia. Consequently, she had to cancel her return flight. She saw the doctor at the urgent care clinic twice and after two prescriptions, one for flu and one for pneumonia, she is finally improving, albeit slowly. Because she was traveling alone, I thought it best to get her trip insurance. Praise the Lord with us for that! Please pray she gets well so she can return home! In the mean time, she is enjoying the grandkids and Nicole isn’t disappointed to have her mom there a bit longer!

Reporting from two sides of the globe!

Happy People
We wanted to update you during this time that Laura is in the US to let you know how things are going…
Laura reports cold weather, snow, snow and more snow but LOTS of lovin’ on the grandkids. The picture with this update was taken by the webcam just after Laura arrived. She said that Nicole has mentioned over and over just how grateful she is to have her mom there while Justin is away. We’re glad that Laura could be there to be a blessing to her during this time. (She even got out one day and shoveled snow!)

flight into the village
Thought we’d share a video of what we see when we fly into the village. Enjoy the trip!!
Thank you for praying for us and for safety for our pilots.
(We’re sorry there was a problem with this video for those not on FaceBook – we’re not sure the source of the problem since we have it shared to “everyone.” We think it’s working now. Please email us if you have problems seeing the video – thank you.)
Psalms, Proverbs and Pogong…

Pogong teaching

Pogong and his family
Thank you so much for praying for Lance’s work on the Psalms. He’s really been enjoying recording each chapter with Pogong, his translation helper. However, last week and this week he’s had to lay that aside as Pogong is away on a ministry trip.
Pogong has lived with his family in a village for a number of years where He has been teaching God’s Word to about 100 people. Last year he started living here more often then there handing over the responsibility to the people there. As Pogong and his wife phase out of that village, they will visit from time to time to check on the church’s progress. Their heart’s desire is to move to another village that needs the gospel.
