About
The Hewa People of Papua New Guinea invited us to live with them over 7 years ago. They are an extremely isolated group of people in the mountains of PNG. In our location they did not have God’s Word to read. The did NOT clearly understand the message of God’s grace.
We spent the first 4 years in Hewa learning the language and culture. We developed an alphabet that allowed us to write the Hewa language. We then taught the Hewa to read and write their own language.
We translated key portions of The Bible and developed lessons so that we could share God’s story from the creation of the world through the life and work of Jesus Christ. In October of 2005 we completed this teaching and about 25 folks expressed their belief in Christ alone for their salvation.
Since then we have completed a review of the types of Christ that God used throughout the Old Testament. Most recently we have been working with the young Church and teaching through the book of Acts.
We are working with several potential leaders. We are developing their skills in teaching. We are discipling them as they make life choices. We hope to one day see these men and their wives become elders in the local church in Hewa.
