NTM - New Tribes Mission | Planting Tribal Churches

So last night I went fishing with a good buddy of mine from high school, Daniel.  Now, I am not a greater fisher, but Daniel and I used to fish all the time, so we thought we would re-live some of the “Good old days.”   We decided to fish off of a dock owned by a friend–This was the same dock that Daniel and I almost drowned off, a few years back, but that’s a story for another time!

 

By the time I got there, Daniel had already pulled in a decent-sized sand shark.

 

 

So I wasted no time in throwing my line out.  I landed a few small small fish, and bizarrely, a stingray on the lower hook and a whiting on the upper hook. (When do you ever see that!?)   Now here is where it get’s interesting.

 

Daniel had one of his poles by me, not tied down or anything, while he was down the dock with his other pole.  Well, he got a heavy strike, and his pole was torn from the dock and into the water.

 

He was pretty ticked off.  I thought he was going Captain Ahab on me when he yells with his fist in the air, “I’ll get you!”  (As if the poor fish really needed any more stress, what with the pole he was now pulling along with him on the river ground!)

 

So, settling in for a long night of revenge, I threw out my line once more, and watched as it looked like I was getting small hits.  I started reeling in, but it sure felt strange!

 

When we got whatever was on the end of the line close to the dock, we realized it was two things:  a small shark, and yes, bizarre as it sounds, Daniel’s long lost pole, with a fighting shark on the other end!

 

Needless to say, Daniel landed the shark with much vindication.

 

Victory!
