A week with Amy

Posted by Mandi Brower on Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Well, many of you probably know or have at least met Amy. And if this is the case you know that a week with her would be full of fun. We met Amy back in California at the Harbor during the first half of our Partnership Development time (building a team of prayer and financial partners for our ministry). Though She hasn’t been in our lives for long, it feels like we’ve known her for years. And we were honored that she would travel out to see us this summer…especially considering that she was willing to leave her boyfriend behind! Thanks for sharing her with us Leighton!!

It was a refreshing time for me (Mandi) to be with a good friend, to talk about God, life, relationships and…to just laugh until it hurt! We had grand plans one day to wake up at 5:30 am and go to the beach to watch the sunrise…ya, that didn’t happen. Instead we left the house at 1pm. We aquired many new inside jokes…CHIGGERS (no this doesn’t mean that we actually GOT chiggers…it is just one inside joke that I have know memory of what it came from)…and I can’t wait till her next visit.

I love you Amy!

Old Friends…

Posted by Josh and Mandi Brower on Monday, June 1st, 2009

This past weekend we spent down in Florida, with a former youth pastor of mine, and his wife and family, from back when I was in early high school.  Craig now pastors a church, Lakeside Community Church in Middleburg, FL.  It was a great couple days spent with him and his family fellowshipping, and talking much Theology.   I loved it! Â

Mandi and I got to share about our ministry with New Tribes at  Sunday School at Lakeside Community Church yesterday morning.  We thought it went very well, and we thank Craig for giving us the opportunity.

Thanks again Craig, Theresa, and the rest of the Bowen family!

My Fish Story….

Posted by Josh and Mandi Brower on Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

So last night I went fishing with a good buddy of mine from high school, Daniel.  Now, I am not a greater fisher, but Daniel and I used to fish all the time, so we thought we would re-live some of the “Good old days.”   We decided to fish off of a dock owned by a friend–This was the same dock that Daniel and I almost drowned off, a few years back, but that’s a story for another time! :)

By the time I got there, Daniel had already pulled in a decent-sized sand shark.

So I wasted no time in throwing my line out.  I landed a few small small fish, and bizarrely, a stingray on the lower hook and a whiting on the upper hook. (When do you ever see that!?)   Now here is where it get’s interesting.

Daniel had one of his poles by me, not tied down or anything, while he was down the dock with his other pole.  Well, he got a heavy strike, and his pole was torn from the dock and into the water.

He was pretty ticked off.  I thought he was going Captain Ahab on me when he yells with his fist in the air, “I’ll get you!”  (As if the poor fish really needed any more stress, what with the pole he was now pulling along with him on the river ground!)

So, settling in for a long night of revenge, I threw out my line once more, and watched as it looked like I was getting small hits.  I started reeling in, but it sure felt strange!

When we got whatever was on the end of the line close to the dock, we realized it was two things:  a small shark, and yes, bizarre as it sounds, Daniel’s long lost pole, with a fighting shark on the other end!

Needless to say, Daniel landed the shark with much vindication.

Victory!

I promise my fish story is all true–Every bit of it!
