Our road trip is over and we are back in El Cajon, CA at last. We are so happy to be here for the Holidays, spending them with at least two of our children.
From July 1 to November 9th, we covered 32 States, about 60 stops, traveling 17,000 miles. Many, many thanks to all of you whom we visited, for all your hospitality and graciousness to us. Too many to name but you know who you are. And many more thanks to our Lord and Savior for all the safety on the road.
We spent all of September in Sanford, FL working on the proofing and formatting of the Dom New Testament including illustrations, footnotes and cross references. However we were not able to finish it due to other circumstances. The 3rd proofing has arrived and we are working on it now to finish and return to Sanford by the end of November. God willing it will all be finished and print ready before the end of the year. Then our mission colleagues in Sanford will find the best printing facility for our Dom New Testament.
Recently there was a ladies’ get-together in the Dom. Christian women from several different Simbu language groups (Dom is one of these) met for worship, teaching and fellowship. Our Dom Christian ladies hosted the event with the help of their husbands who built the sleeping and cooking facilities. Bible teaching was provided by a Christian lady from one of the Simbu language groups and one our own NTM mission ladies. We trust that it was a refreshing time of edification and encouragement for all.
Hard to believe that the year is nearly finished and our home assignment time is half over. We have set some goals for these next six months including getting some health issues resolved. Please pray with us for the accomplishment of these goals as the Lord allows.
Gerolf, our partner, has a language evaluation coming up December 1 so we are sure that he would appreciate prayer as he gears up for that. Pray he will be relaxed and it will be a good assessment of what his language level of Dom is.
The outreach at Buala Maule continues with Bible teaching two times a week. We are pleased that 7 or 8 of women from there attended the women’s conference. Also another outreach has started in a village (Anma) a bit further on from Baula Maule so please be praying for a great response to the Gospel there. Pray for Gena as he seems to be the only one interested in doing these outreaches.
Exciting times ahead as we enter into a whole new phase of our ministry among the Dom people. Teaching, discipling and evangelizing with a full volume, cover to cover New Testament in the Dom language instead of separate portions will be a new chapter in the lives of Dom believers and in our own as well. Thank you all so very much for making this possible through your years of prayer and giving. Praise God!
Happy Holidays to you all, Jim and Judy Burdett Dom (dome) Tribe, Papua New Guinea Partners with Gerolf and Mailis Wuest
