Off to Canada I go…

Posted by Jerry and Joyce McDaniels on Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

Now, if our ministry is in Latin America, why am I traveling north to Canada?

God has given Joyce & me the privilege of giving support and help to the various ministries of New Tribes Mission throughout Latin America. One of these ministries is the training centers for national missionaries which are located in five countries throughout Latin America. This trip to Canada prepares me to better understand the missionary training programs worldwide.

So pray that this trip up north will help equip me for the tasks God has ahead of us.

What’s ahead for us?

August is a whole month of meetings for us at our mission office and then we begin several months of trips to Ecuador, Panama, and other destinations that are lining up.

We appreciate your prayers as we use these next weeks to prepare for conferences and meetings in Spanish, English, and the Kuna language. We simply could not do this without you and the ginormous encouragement your partnership is to us!

Calling on Spanish-speaking prayer partners

Literacy Manual for missionaries all in Spanish!

One of the missionary teams that Joyce & I work with in Latin America is known as the Spanish Language Resource (SLR) team. These missionaries are committed to translating materials that we as English-speaking missionaries have access to…like manuals on how to set up literacy programs, Bible translation information, and tools for church planting. (more…)

Viva Mexico!

Posted by Jerry and Joyce McDaniels on Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Later this month Joyce and I will be going to Mexico, where we will travel with a consultant to a tribal area in the mountain and encourage the missionary team about church planting and producing literacy and Bible study materials. Then we will be attending a conference with participants from the New Tribes training centers from around the world. Because the tribal missionary teams are often multi-cultural (like one missionary couple from Brazil, one from Germany and another from USA) it is important that they receive similar training. In our region we have missionary training centers in several different countries.

Please pray that we will be a help and blessing while we are in Mexico. Pray that we will be able to quickly adapt to all the changes as we travel…different altitudes, time zones, beds, foods, and languages!

Tribal Church Leaders Meet Together

Inter-tribal church leaders conference

Each year the church leaders from the tribal groups in which New Tribes Mission has planted churches in Panama meet together.

The days they share in prayer, fellowship and study knit their hearts together in a very special way. Being able to see first hand the challenges of the other tribal groups gives them an even greater respect for each other and helps them know how to pray. Everyone comes away realizing that we are part of something BIG that God is doing!

Literacy Classes

Posted by Jerry and Joyce McDaniels on Thursday, July 27th, 2006

The end of September, Joyce and I will be traveling again into Latin America to teach a 2 week module on literacy programs to national missionaries.

We are very excited about this opportunity as we are convinced of the value of literacy programs and how they are vital for strong tribal churches.

Pray that the formatting of the literacy manual in Spanish will be completed in time for us to use this excellent tool.

Pray for wisdom as we prepare to teach this course. It will all be in Spanish, so that adds a challenge!

Pray that God will use this class to prepare these national missionary candidates for the ministries ahead of them.
