Wow! A lot is going on and I finally have internet again! We’ve been having internet problems. I just got back from a month of traveling pretty much all over Senegal! It was long but really good! We saw 6 different works going on; some need people, some don’t. These trips were designed so we could see some of the realities in church planting and we did! For me personally, it confirmed my desire to have Senegalese co-workers. I was also able to reconnect with some friends. I left a day early to see a long time friend from growing up here. That was a special time for me! Between the trips, I went to Dakar and was able to reconnect with my church there and to meet with the elders for their advice on where I should work next. It’s neat how God works. During my time in Dakar, I was coming to the conclusion that God was leading me to a work because nothing else was opening up; the day before I left I got a call from a missionary couple asking me to consider joining them. This couple is working towards having Senegalese as co-workers. I was pretty excited when they asked me. I’m still praying about it. I move up to Dakar in a week and a half! June 19! I meet with leadership either June 24, 25, or 26 and we’ll be talking about my future. We need time to talk and decide together where I’ll be located. Please pray for these meetings and my move to Dakar. There’s a lot to do in the next week and it continues to be HOT! Pray also for energy and strength in this heat. Pray for Chantal as she’ll remain here. My parents are going back to the States July 15 for a year. Please keep them in your prayers as they have lots going on these weeks. My little sister Nicole has two cats she hasn’t found homes for and she’s really attached to them. Please pray for her and that through this her faith would grow; that she’d see God’s hand in this. Thanks for your prayers and support! Have a good week!

NTM leadership asked me to consider a temporary need on a church planting team. There’s a couple and a single lady working to see a church established among the Konyagi people. The couple will be returning to the States for seven months. Chantal, the single lady will need a partner during this time. After making a trip with my parents interior, seeing the context and meeting with the team, I’m really excited about this opportunity! Having prayed about it and having discussed this with my church leadership in Dakar, it seems this is where God is leading me for the next few months. I will be moving Dec 7 or 8 to the southeastern part of Senegal.

Together with Chantal, I’ll be developing relationships with believers from the Konyagi people group, looking for ways to be able to work together in church planting. I’ll also be able to continue improving my French and my cultural integration. Pray that I will be able to find good language helpers. I praise God for the progress I seem to be making.

Living in a different context will give me a broader perspective of Senegalese cultures. It’s neat seeing God’s hand in all this: Chantal is a French speaker so we’ll be speaking French together, He has provided a host family who is known and respected in the community, the local church I’ll be attending is barely 200 yards from my house, and I was actually able to see the context where I’ll be living for this time. Each one of these is a HUGE unexpected blessing from God!

After the 7 months, I’ll return to Dakar for a time and reconnect with my church there as well as receive an evaluation. I’m excited about this but know there are lots of changes coming. Pray for the move, goodbyes, good time management in these next two weeks and getting to know new people. It’s going to be really hard for me to leave my Senegalese family and especially Annie. She is a niece of my host dad who lives with us and we’ve become really close. Despite the differences in our cultures, it’s neat seeing how close I’ve been able to become with Annie and my host mom. Pray for Annie. I’m not sure where she is spiritually.

I thank God that my two sisters are able to be here with us for two weeks! It’s been nice having them here!

That’s my big news! Lots of changes! It’s exciting being a part of bringing the gospel to those with no hope! Thank you for praying for me and being a part of this exciting journey!

I’d LOVE to hear from you when you have a chance!

It's hard to believe that I'm finally here in Senegal! I've been preparing to come now for 6 years and it always seemed so far away in in the future. Now I'm actually here! It's been neat living with a Christian Senegalese family and learning how to cook, clean, and do laundry the way they do it. It hasn't always been easy of comfortable but it's been really good! Since I've been here, I've been really hit by the desperate need for the gospel. I go to the market and see Muslams praying and it makes me sad because they're doing it for nothing! I'm reminded of my Senegalese friend's who still don't know Christ and if anything were to happen to them, they'd go to Hell. It really makes me sad! Please pray for the people of Senegal! Please pray for me as I learn the Senegalese culture and French more. Pray for wisdom. I need to find someone to work with me about an hour every day to study French and the Senegalese culture more in depth. Thanks SO much for your prayers and support. Be sure to check out the photo page!

It was neat just to again marvel at the creativity of God. His creation is just one example of how much He loves us! He didn’t have to make earth a beautiful place but He did out of love for us! After the hike, we had a pique-nique lunch, then we went to get ice cream. Pure maple syrup is HUGE here and they do all kinds of things with it including putting it in ice cream! It’s amazingly good! Don’t forget to check out the photos!

I had the awesome privilege of going on a 2-week mission’s trip to northern Quebec with the Bible School students! I’m really glad I went! Yes, it was out of my comfort zone but it was worth it! We saw some people come to Christ and had the opportunity to present the gospel in public schools! How often does that happen! It was really neat seeing God work! Also it really helped my French too! It’s SOOOO pretty up there too! I’ve been realizing the HUGE need there is for mission’s right here in Quebec! It’s sad! Thanks for your prayers! I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them!
